That's because Bennett foddy has one of *those* voices that's legitimately calming, and I believe he put more time into the script than the game, from how well thought out and put together it is, whereas this was made with the game in mind first, mostly to be frustrating

It's easy to explain too, it's partly due to the much more soothing voice but also because you overcome the controls of "Getting Over It" while here it's just frustrating whenever you fall. There is nothing you accomplish and that's where the original just winds hands down
@dingdawng

In getting over it you literally do get over it. Everything you do is YOUR accomplishment due to how vital your slightest movement is in getting over it. Every mistake you make in getting over it is your fault and you come to understand that fact in the end. While golfing over it has clunky controls at best, and due to how lightweight the ball is you have no real say in what goes on other than where you send the ball. To quote mark "you need to scootchy tooch it the right way". While in getting over it there is no right way to do it, it all comes down to how you play. So in the end you feel how you've overcome the obstacle, not some dumb ball. YOU did it. While in this game, you have no real input other than hitting the ball. And due to how the bouncing of the ball works, you could do everything right and get screwed. Getting over it is completely fair, Golfing over it isn't.

actually, i have played this whole game, and Alva Majo is definitely right in one of the first things he says, if you focus on reaching the top you're gonna feel very stressed and it's gonna be a raging experience, but i played it the way he said it was meant to be played, enjoying the mechanic of the game, paying attention to the experience, falling didn't hurt nearly as much, because I liked *Golfing Over It* it was a fun and relaxing experience for me, except for when the game was in silence, i chose my own calming music, but i do recommend this game, but only if you're willing to let the "reaching the top" goal go. nice game ^^

that's kinda how i felt with getting over it. i wasn't mad at all when i fell, just kinda disappointed because of how long it takes me to get up to wherever i was. which is also why i never understood why literally every youtuber just got so mad at the game. like i mean, yeah it's kinda frustrating especially when you accidentally fling yourself, but if you got up there once, you can get up there again, which is one of the things bennet foddy said during gameplay.

I've come to learn that there are 4 stages of anger, each one more angry than the last 1. mild anger, where the anger starts to form, and maybe some voice raisings are present 2. yelling anger, screaming. lots and lots of screaming. 3. rant anger, yelling anger, but instead of being in bursts of screams, its compiled into long rants 4. calm anger, zero yelling, voice is never raised. ever. it's the point where you've become so angry that the only thing you can do is be calm

I love how Mark argued with the voice when it said that the game would be more enjoyable and thus easier to maintain your sanity if you aren't fixated on getting to the end by basically saying "I'm not fixated on getting to the end, I'm fixated on getting to the end with my sanity." Especially since at the end he basically said that halfway through something just broke and he stopped caring if he got to the end, subsequently experiencing less rage.

Seeing mark in genuine mental pain is heartbreaking no matter how long ago it was, whether it be pogostuck, getting over it, golfing over it, hiking. All those, Seeing mark just so emotionally drained opens a whole new level of upset in me.

I totally get what Mark means when he says rage games make him physically uncomfortable. It's that deep-set anxious, miserable feeling and the headache that doesn't hurt so bad as it annoys you. It can completely ruin a day

Almost like the moments right before a meltdown or sensory overload. Not overwhelming but excessively unpleasant and you just want the stressor to STOP
@basilstorm9461
@basilstorm9461 5 жыл бұрын
When Mark gets angry playing a game you can tell that he has ADD. Especially when he keeps playing it because he's hyperfocused and can't physically stop his body from continuing to act until he finishes the challenge. It's like that one episode of Cuphead where he couldn't stop replaying the run and gun level because he wanted to do it perfectly. The loop is hard to break out of. As much as I try to enjoy Mark playing rage games or honestly anything that gets him like this, I can't help but empathize to the point where I feel the awful frustration too. If you're reading this Mark, I hope you didn't make as miserable as my brain is telling me you are.

Not having ADHD I can't sympathize with this, as I can either stay calm, get fun angry (kinda pissed but still get loud and ragey for the laughs) or know when to take a break. But if it really is like that for mark or anyone else, please don't try to play/watch rage games. There's no point of torturing yourself for someone else's amusement
@basilstorm9461
@basilstorm9461 5 жыл бұрын
I have autism (which overlaps with a lot of the symptoms of ADHD like hyperfocus and sensitivity to stressors but is also it's own thing) so my comments about Mark's behavior are only assumptions, but it always makes me sad when I see Mark get caught up in a rage game. I personally avoid them because they cause me a lot of discomfort but from the way Mark was describing it he goes through something similar :( Videos like the Ben and Ed one where he spent like two and a half hours on one part of an obstacle course trying to get a secret always make me feel bad for him because, as he said in that one Cuphead episode, he can't make himself physically stop playing. For some games he makes the choice to play them even though they're rage games, but for others, he gets suddenly stuck in the loop without warning

Mark's weird ability to do things perfect on the first try and suck at them after having to do them over again has earned him the name "Fluke Fischbach" in my book Also side note, the revive thing is actually kind of genius. It keeps players from giving up too quickly which in turn opens opportunities for even more soul-crushing frustration :D

Sometimes these games have points and that’s what causes you even more rage. The simple and basic controls make you feel in control until the game’s mechanics make you lose control and having a sense of control is what makes us all feel calm and secure and when something breaks that sense of control it angers us.
