"We're living in a world that's very cruel. The only way to get better is to understand each other. If you had a downs syndrome son, you still have to love that child... Because that child will grow up and benefit himself, and show others that tool: how to love." Erik, how many times have you been left speechless? I daresay you can count it on one hand. You should be proud of producing such a stirring video.

erik i had the pleasure quite a few years ago to caddy for some of the special olympic athletes on one of the hardest courses in New England ( Yale Golf club). it was an amazing day to witness the talent these athletes have. they were all supportive of each other and cheer each other on even though they were competing against each other. it was a wonderful sight to see, it gave me a new respect for the game to see how it should be played on a daily basis.. thank you Erik for showing others there skills and joy of there game.

I have a lot of respect for you for being as honest as you were when you were taking about handicap parking spots. Anyone who can admit fault like that and show that they want to learn and are open to their mind being changed like that is okay in my book. Good on you for recognizing your ignorance and bettering yourself. We are all ignorant in one area or another, the world would be a much better place if everyone could do this.

I've coached swimming for 22 years. We've had some Olympians come through our program. To see these athletes become part of a team. To be accepted no matter what special needs they may have. Not only to see their individuality emerge but to hear them groan about Butterfly drills just like every teenager. Seeing them be brave enough to travel with the Special Olympics Program and returning home to tell you every detail of their trip. Finally, having to ask them how they swam......because the trip, the friends and the experience was as important as the swim meet. People.....just wonderful people.

Thanks for showing support to the Special Olympics your inspiration Eric has got me playing golf again.I played for Special Olympics in golf in my hometown of Halifax and ended up winning gold medals in the provincial games 2 years in a row and was even offered to go national but I sketched out over the pressure of playing competition golf if I did not play good I did have fun when I had a bad game I would just isolate myself from my comrades and I was drinking a lot behind the scenes even showed up to a practice drunk as hell when I was having a really bad spell with my game and quit shortly there after.Am I proud of it no in fact quitting the Special Olympics/golf was and still is the biggest fucking regret I have in my life but 2020 is the year I make things right going back to golf as a pastime and for the Special Olympics so from the bottom of my heart thank you and never stop golfing 🏌️

This is really a fantastic episode. I did some remodeling work on a facility that works with special needs adults. Despite their difficulties, every day they were happy and positive. Thank you for bringing some awareness to what great human beings they are. We all could take a lesson from them. “Just love other people”, it’s seems so simple. Why are some many content with a world filled with hate? I love that Golf brings people together! Keep up the great work👍🏻

First I watched your recent attempt to break 90 and felt demoralized along with you. Then followed that up with this. Put things back into perspective. It makes me think that some of us should look at our handicap in a different way. It's possible we are the one's with the special needs. The athlete's you played with may have a better grasp of this game than most of us. Thank you for overcoming any apprehension you might of had to do this. Ultimately it's probably one of the most poignant video's you have put out.

I had a wonderful opportunity to have a relationship with a Jr. Special Olympics golfer. The kindest young man you could ever meet. I watched him play only once, representing the organization with his coach and hit shots for people supporting the state team. He hit shot after shot on top of the flag on that par 3 for 5 hours. I was at a loss for words just how good he was with his coach around, smiling ear to ear the whole time. Thank you so much for putting this out, it deserves all the attention and more. Thank you!

no one can convince me that golf isn't the greatest game ever created. this is just one example of why: because you can play a round of golf, but the best thing that comes out of it is you learned something about life. as an educator who has worked with wonderful people like the ones you featured in this video, i can tell you that it's absolutely true. we go in thinking we're going to help them out, but we end up getting so much more in return compared to what we are able to give. and yet, everyone still wins.

More people need to watch this, today more than ever. In your 4 seasons of Adventures in Golf, this is hands-down the top episode you have done. And it's from a regular muni course in Sothern California. The real gem to these episodes is not the locations or courses, its the people. And the ones you spent this day with were the best yet. If you ended the series with this, it would be a fitting end.
