For the last 9 month I've been struggling to beat 90 after playing solid 11 handicapper golf for years. I watched OMP's how to break 90 on Friday and I've shot 84 today at Berrington Hall in St Helens, following OMP's advice. Go OMP!

What an awesome channel! Here I am stuck at home after knee surgery and stumble across a video of you hitting the 1959 irons. A week later and I have watched every video. Am proud to be a golfmate! Thank you for all your work Liam. Team OMP all the way!!!

As you would say Liam 'From the bottom of my heart' I want to thank Pat for his tip on addressing the ball with irons. I love love golf it's my therapy in life but recently I haven't been enjoying it. Things got so bad with my iron play that I took lessons for the first time in my life aged 50. The pro is a great guy but he talks in riddles and confused me even more. Two minutes listening to OMP has changed my game completely and in a month I have gone from 17.4 to 16.2. God bless you Pat.

I love irons. I wish we could still get a "full set" (1 - PW) but the trend has been toward double digit "woods", various specialty wedges, and rescue clubs. Irons are precision instruments that require lots of practice to master, especially the long ones. It's so worth it, the first 1-iron you effortlessly hit the sweet spot with will put an indelible smile on your face.

That is one of your best videos you have done this year, to fix small problems is not all about swing plains or keeping elbows in, some times is just a simple as ball position, great tip from OMP. 😀😀🏌️♂️🍻🇨🇦

Liam, I used to ride and race dirt bikes as a hobby but we would practice a lot basically because it was fun however we would “ play ride “ and play follow the leader or out do the other guy. THAT was a blast and what the doctor ordered. I think that is relative to playing without a card a play for fun. Not always about grinding away. Thanks mate.

Thanks for another fab video. I used to have a Cleveland Launcher driver back in the day. I'm going to the practice ground next week to hit some 7 iron chip & run approach shots just like the legend OMP. Also, I've started hitting 3 wood at some holes instead of driver - made a massive difference. Many thanks and can't wait until the next video.

I've always thought"knew" you stand too far from the ball with your Irons, your arms need to hang almost straight down from your shoulders, you reach. OMP was smart in how he got you to move, and by standing closer, your shoulders are now lined up. another fun Video....love the ending
@antfieldhouse62095 жыл бұрын
I started addressing my irons the same way and it works!!! I noticed I was striking more from the toe, lined up in the heel and found centre, easy fix.
@pgadrmer15 жыл бұрын
Liam, In my Humble Opinion it looks to me as if when you set up you have a nice flat back and your backside is back and out of the way. This creates a nice spine angle....but when you come through impact you loose your flat back and there by loose that nice spine angle which leads to a too upright swing through the ball. This causes some to go left and some to go right because the club face doesn't have enough time to square up to the ball. Sometimes it is closed and sometime is it open. It is only because of your natural timing that you can hit some straight. Don't lose your spine angle...sometimes this means you need to pause a fraction of a second at the top of your backswing which can help keep the spine angle. Love the flat back at address. Just my thoughts. Hope it works. Hello to OMP!! Really enjoy the videos. I was speaking to my wife last night and I want to come to Manchester to have a game sometime in August. Do you have anything going on in August?

Some great advice again from OMP. I have noticed on a lot of the golf course websites in the UK that the dress code says you need to have your shirt tucked in, over here they don't worry about that so we can decide on our own whether to wear it in or out.

lets see you play the titleist 910d3 , im still playing one today and cant fault it, though the project x X-7C3 in stiff helps, such a stable shaft, oh and about playing your irons closer to the hossel , the sweet spot is closer to the heel of the iron than most think

I hit the ball a similar way to you I think 270ish drive. I never used to use my driver much as much home course is short but quite tight. Would use irons off most tees and driver only three or four times. But when I played at longer courses I really struggled cause I didn't get the practice needed with my driver. I've started using it more now and it's improved my golf a lot. Hcp down from 14 to 10 this season. I agree not getting it out every par4 but I've seen a big improvement have 100 yard approaches rather than 160 yard approaches.

Well done, I had a net 4 under on Saturday and won a stableford with 40 points. Basically, you can hit the ball but do you know how to actually play golf ? Pat kind of told you that you don't ! Its not just about hitting it as far as you can., there is strategy and OMP knows this. I struggle with it too but yesterday I really tried to play properly and it worked. Sounds like you did too. I think you need OMP to do more of this with you game. It will make good content and will help the viewers too. So did you win the £5 ? If so, I hope you gave your new coach a cut of your winnings ! OMP has you all ends up when it comes to £5s ! Just set up a DD to him and have done with it. Well done, it makes it more enjoyable when you play well !

I was playing a round one year with three other guys. It wasn't a overly long course but still required precise shots. I decided to just use my irons, 1,2 etc. no putter, I putted with my 60 degree. I was relaxed because I wasn't trying to outdrive anyone, just enjoying the day. All day I stripped my irons and with the 1,2 I had short shots into the greens. One of the guys ask me "Why aren't you using your putter? Most of the greens were hard and very fast, I learned to blade a 60 degree a long time ago and I can control the speed much better than I can with a putter because of the mass. While they were running putts off the greens at times my putts were either in or within a couple of feet for par. I shot a two under 70 and to this day the guys won't play with me because they think I was up to something but I wasn't I was just enjoying the day, golf is much easier when you won't allow the mind to make it so hard.
