I subscribed today. I must say, and I am not trying to be mean, when I first saw your videos, I thought you were a dufus. I guess it's the hat. But now, your tips and advice are the things I go to when on the course. I now enjoy your videos, AND, they have helped me tremendously. I am 55 years old, been playing a long time, off and on, and I shot my first sub 80 two days ago! And yes, I did fall back on things I learned here. I do need a lot of work on chipping, but I am improving. Next Goal 75. Thanks for the help to give us to make golf more successful and enjoyable.

Great advice on this video. I have found that if I play "natural golf", my scores improve. Take the excess thinking out if the equation. Stay relaxed, let the clubs do the work, and smile. A bad shot is not the end of the world. It's an opportunity to make your next swing a great one. This is the beauty of golf.

Using your principles (reducing swing thoughts and playing the most comfortable, stress free shot) helped me have the best round of my life this week. Thanks Matt!
@AndyDuffer5 жыл бұрын
After understanding your stress free golf and course management concepts, magic happened yesterday. I played two round at my home course. I play with 17 hcp and I get 18 strokes on that course. My old record was 88 strokes. In my morning round I shot 83 and afternoon round 77. Did not have my occasional swing yips because it was stress free (at the end of the second round I was understandably stressed as hell) because I knew that if I miss I miss safe. Took the measurement on the front of the green and chose a club that can carry that. Worked like a charm. Just wanted to let you know. Thank you, sincerely. Also, you crack me up.

Always a joy, young sir, Always. I'm just back home after a post-work round from hell. It was one of those days...tomorrow'll be much better. Not wanting to leave on a negative note, I made a short detour to the par five 5th where I tee'd up an old pinnacle, took out the driver and gave it the full beans. It was a 'woo' and indeed 'hoo' moment. Now, I couldn't be arsed to go and get the ball, so I'm guessing on the distance, but it must have been 450 to 500 yards, easy. Which is around 200 to 250 yards longer than my previous best...True story

Perhap golf should be whatever length of time we feel like. 6 holes, 9 holes, 12 holes? I mean, who says it needs to be 18? I find 12 to be about the length that it just feels fun and then I would prefer to be drinking a brew in the clubhouse. 18 loses it's shine. It takes a REALLY good course to keep my mind interested for 18 holes

Hi Matt! Ok so I’m just going to hit a wedge off every tee from now on...no stress there, easiest 105 I’ll ever shoot 🤪. Seriously though, I like your philosophy of taking pressure/ego out of the game as much as possible and I think about it in similar terms. However I would say that with no risk comes no reward and it’s always going to be a balancing act. You need to give yourself the best chance of hitting the green with your approach shot, and use ‘minimum necessary force’ in doing that. Depending on the layout of the hole that may mean opting for a 6 iron off the tee with no stress, or it may necessitate something more. I like to think about it in terms of the combination of clubs on the first two shots that gives me the best chance of being on the green in two. To demonstrate my thought process, picture a 350 yard par 4 which is reasonably tight off the tee - if you smash a great drive you may only have a flick onto the green left with a lob wedge, but how reliably are you going to find the right spot with your driver? Let’s say 50% of the time for argument’s sake, and let’s also say that if you do, you’ve got a 90% chance of hitting the green from there with a lob wedge, i.e. 50% x 90% = 45% all in all. Not great. Now let’s say instead you hit 6 iron off the tee onto the fairway (75% chance of doing so if not better) then maybe 7 or 8 iron onto the green (let’s say 60% chance of hitting the green to be reasonably conservative)...that’s also 45%. BUT, that’s not the whole story, because when you’re hitting the driver, where does the ball end up when you don’t find the fairway the other 50% of the time? I’ll tell you where - it ends up in the place where you start thinking “why didn’t I hit the f%*!#$g 6 iron?!!” A bad shot with a 6 iron off the tee is in the rough with hopefully still a shot at the green, but at worst it’s a punch down the fairway. So while it may seem that you don’t improve your chances of hitting the green by playing safe, you take a significant portion of the risk away.

In wet bunkers, you can lean back a little. I usually spread the weight evenly but now I have shifted to the left side on bunker shots even in the wet sand. Chipping is always front foot. There's never a time to put it on the back foot when chipping. Great going

Shot of the day was a 215 second shot (long for me) 2I with the Zed U85 to within 12 feet. Missed the Eagle but tapped in for Birdie. Took about 2 weeks to be able to hit the Srixon decently, but it flies from the tee and fairway.

What a round Playa! You were smashin' that 2 iron. The way you hit the long irons you would be deadly with that Divnick All In One Club. Great Video Matt👍

I told Steve Divnick about you and sent him a link to this video. He acted like he's really interested in your channel but, at the moment he is out of the clubs. Rick Shiels video ran him out of stock. Later Playa👍

Like a baus! Got my waddaplaya shirt packed, got my mindset, ready to roll on Sunday Matty cakes! Really going to go with the pure stress free shots, every one. If that means 8iron off the tee cuz that's what I feel is the most stress free, then it's 8iron off the tee. On a side note, my tripod arrived today from Amazon! 😊

@@GolfSidekick boom! Played 9 in the rain (course was wide open, who knew? 😂), stress free, 7 over with a birdie num num and two pars! Equate that out to 18 holes, that would be a 14 over 86, which would make me a pig in sh*t! Stress free my brothers, it changes the way you play/see the game. Thanks golf sidekick, maybe it was my wet waddaplaya shirt that brought on the good play! 😂😂
