I am in high school and we had a golf tournament I am usually a mid 80s player but in a tournament a week ago I shot 96 and was aggravated because I can shoot better easily. My main problem is constantly outcome thinking “I need this and this to get this score” and it kills my mental game, I decided to go out there at the next tournament and focus and think ahead but at the same time have a positive attitude to the bad shots instead of getting aggravated. I shot 79 yesterday and I just want to say thank you!!!

You are changing my attitude toward the game! I lost a little over 120 pounds a couple of yrs ago and lost a bunch of strength with it! Quit the game for a year or so because of the massive loss of distance but have come back to the game within the last year. I'm back to a 4 handicap but that's playing from around 6,400 yards average. Any longer and I begin to get STRESSED about reaching greens and keeping up with "flat bellies". Your "chipping and putting" theory is 100% the correct approach to the game and I appreciate the inspiration! Keep the videos coming. Very informative as well as entertaining.

Well done on coming back and enjoying the game again big dawg. Now all you need to realize is that long holes you just need to hit your favorite pitch shot or chip shot into the green! You will start making more pars and get more confidence.

Second round of the year, with new irons and driver, I went to my local track. I was 5 over on the first 3 holes and I decided to go full Stress Free!. 39 on the back nine with at least a par putt on every hole. Took the driver out only once on the last 15 holes (ripped a monster drive down the middle) but kept it simple and stress free. Thanks Playa!

@GolfSidekick! Just followed! I found golf just over 3 short years ago and have fallen in love with it! As a life long athlete my 1st invite was from a friend who assured me that I would love the game, and man was he right! The whole thing is so humbling, size and athletic ability have nothing to do with the game at all! The entire game is 'mental' paired with practice, practice, practice and attitude. I cannot tell you how very much I appreciate your 'keep it simple stupid' approach to the game, and your candid sharing of course and stress management! Your channel has been critical to my own process of improving and I can share that since finding your channel I have gone from shooting triple digits to regularly shooting in the low 90s and I have no doubt that I'll be getting into the 80s and beyond with more "PLAY" (not work)! Thank you so much for all of your sharing, keep it up PLAYA!

@GolfSidekick5 жыл бұрын
Thank you sir. Swing instrcution is useless actually unless it is with someone who really cares about you. Most of the time we make crap swings because of our thinking and our doubts and has nothing to do with mechanics. Majority of the time, instruction works only until you hit the course again and have a target in your way and your brain melts. Get over the doubt and fear first, learn to commit to shots and swing instruction might then be okay if their is PAIN or BIIIIIG slices.

I just started playing golf. I only do 9 holes. Playing about three times a week and practice a couple hours with a net. My buddy told me golf is easier and more fun when you’re relaxed and you just play. No stress or hype to do good. Just swing and play. I started out with a high handicap. Like 14 strokes on a par 4. But after just relaxing and just learning to hit and enjoy myself, I’m down to 7 strokes a hole. That’s after less than a month. Just relax and enjoy the day, best tip ever.

When I finally realized how unimportant I am and how unimportant the game is I started shooting much lower scores. I don't analyze my swing or get upset over bad shots anymore. Bad shots are going to happen. A good round is obviously more enjoyable than a bad round, but they are both fun. I get to spend an afternoon with my friends whacking away on fantastic grass that I don't have to mow. Include the hour or so at the 19th hole and I am looking at 5-6 hours away from my nagging wife. I thoroughly enjoyed them all. Well done. My particular favourite was the match with Pun, it was wonderful. That's how golf should be played. I smiled the whole way through it. I hope to take your stress free golf out to my next round as it makes perfect sense. I've kinda always known that's how I should play, (I'm an 18 handicapper), but I do tend to overestimate my ability and take on shots that, at the best, I have a one in ten chance of pulling off, or, just as badly, compound one bad shot with the next. All the best and keep up the good work.

I played yesterday at a course 2 hours away. On the number 1 handicap hole, I had 90 yards for my approach shot to a front flag on a crows nest green. I was going to use my 54 degree wedge, then my sidekick training got me thinking. Can I hit it pure off this very tight lie? If not, then I'm short and the crows nest green will cause the ball to roll back down, leaving me short sided with a tough chip back up the slope. I decide to use my knock-down wedge instead: 100 yards, better chance of a good contact. The ball came out low and controlled, safely hit the green past the pin, spun back and plopped into the hole for an eagle! Thanks GS, I couldn't have done it without you. :)

wow. playing like an old lady DOES lower my scores! it doesn't make me feel very cool (ego), but wearing my new tropical bucket hat and color-coordinated sunglasses makes up for a lot of that.

Would love to. It's worth my time after they learn the principles and are comfortable with the new thinking. Most people are VERY VERY resistant to hitting two wedges because it is like a blow to the ego or something they've never done so it's a weird feeling. After some time maybe 4 or 5 rounds, they should be good value. Only thing is finding someone.

@@GolfSidekickCrazy how people who state they want to get better then resist. Ever consider working with younger person such as a high or middle schooler who has reasonably consistent contact? Would be interesting to see. Thanks Playa!

The score of 76, by my standards, is some pretty damn good golf. By yours, its a good score, but we could see a higher level of frustration. It wasn't a bad ball striking round for sure. Some really pure shots and thats fun. The short game and putting were not your norm. The greens threw you. But the iron work was awesome. Great video as always!

Yes, stress on the greens was high since it was the first one back on bermuda in 3 months. Now, in March, I have kind of got the touch back!

@@GolfSidekick completely understandable can you teach swings or give analysis id love a little help...I just got new M6 driver and hit well never had a 2 iron my go to club is my 4 iron hybrid which is a 80% 210 yds or hard 225ish...Im a 14 handicap but have been as low as 10.5 handicap...but if you ever come into U.S and to Nashville, Tn Id love to play a round

@@justincox8398 I know next to nothing about the swing my good man. I unfortunately cannot help on that. But if your go to club works, then work it. If the driver works when you have more confidence on wider holes, boom boom and then expand to tighter holes as your confidence grows

Champ! Thanks for all the great content! Your videos are always a treat! Need to try to apply your stress free technique when the season starts here in the Nordic. Far to many rounds I spend being pissed off and going for impossible shots! Golf is supposed to be fun and not all about being anxcious and miserable 😃 What is your mindset on short putts? 3-4 feet.
@GolfSidekick5 жыл бұрын
The Swedish Golfer Channel 3-4 foot putts are about finding the line for your pace. Do you wanna boom it or baby it? If you boom it, you need less break but MORE commitment. If you are gonna baby it, you need more break and soft hands with a willingness to trust gravity will bring it in. Then you find a spot on that line within 5 or 6 inches of the ball and line the putter alignment aid up to that spot. You must feel comfortable with your eyes that your eyes and brain and putter line up. Once you feel comfortable over it, you take the putter back a short distance and follow through twice as far as your back stroke. Stay down and dont look up. Ideally if you suck at 3-4 footers, you should stay down so long without looking up that the only way you know it is in the hole is because you heard the sound of it landing in the bottom of the cup. If you REALLLYYY suck at them, look at the hole when you putt the ball. Seriously try that on the practice putting green next time

Nicely done Matt, great vid and great play. What loft is your 2 iron? I just added a 19* 3 iron and am loving it. Last season I regularly had a melt down point, funnily enough also around 14th/15th. I needed to fix this - enough water (not energy drinks or whatever which I had before) and some healthy food made an immediate difference. I also tried to build mental and physical stamina by long training sessions or more than one round in a day. It kinda works better now, but something I'm also still working on. Keep up the good work! Regards from Germany!
@GolfSidekick5 жыл бұрын
18 degree two iron. I dont think my meltdowns are from the food. I did think so but its purely mental. Probably because its hotter now (98-102 F, 37-38 C) and I start to waiver a bit. But i need to be fitter and then stay within my abilities. Lately I hve been trying to hit fades and half shots and knockdowns on the back nine for what reason I dunno. So will need to get fitter mentally and physically so I can post a 68 or something in the near future!!!!!!!!!!

Good sir, I must say that there is no need for any trick shot in the bunker other than open the stance open the face and fucking hammer it if it's buried. Works everytime. Proximity to cup no guarantee. But out and in general direction yes
