Dude, thanks so much for decolonizing the neighborhood before you talked about it. It's so important to recognize Native American roots to so many of these cities! I'll likely be teaching high school english in Chicago after I graduate college- I really hope to live in Old Town.

Thanks, I try to learn as much about the history as I explore the different neighborhoods. Unfortunately, most of the history of the Native Americans in Chicago is lost, even things that are in plain sight are forgotten by most. If I can bring even a little bit of awareness to this I'll be happy

I am a native Chicago Girl, and never knew it once had a large Filipino population. I also never knew it was once called the Cabbage Patch either.

@@ilahildasissac1943 For decades, there were a bunch of Filipino families living south of North Avenue between Lasalle and Sedgwick back when the neighborhood was rough. Only a few remain since most all live out in the burbs now.

I'm looking to see the Old Town where my parents took us as kids. There were Beatniks and hippies all up & down the streets. From tiny shops music would pour out into the streets. Most of the shop owners would be outside their doors and trying to sell their wares!! Candles shaped as mushrooms, various scented oils and perfumes, pot parephenalia, lots of pot signs , love beads, hippies and Beatniks. This was back in the 1960' and I loved going to Old Town??!!? 😍🫶💯

Hi Luis I'm British, im hoping to travel to Chicago after the pandemic is over, my and my girl have been doing some research and want to stay at the Viceroy hotel, would you recommend this place and would you say its in Old town or downtown, as on Google maps it says its in Old Town but its only 10 minute walk from the river.

Hey Chris! I haven't stayed at the Viceroy, but it seems good. It's in the "Rush & Division" neighborhood, just south of Old Town & Gold Coast and just north of the downtown area.
