Absolutely brilliant, criminal in my mind why these guys were not more appreciated, it pains me as I'm the only one in my friends and family that actually know of Gomez but their brilliance is staggering. I as a musician just want them to be recognised as to how good they are..

I heard a small snip of this song in a horror movie, and searched unsuccessfully for this song. The virulent spread of the internet and you tube allowed to make a list of songs I didn't know the names of, or who sang them. This is a gem and the lead singers voice haunted me for a long time. I am so glad I found you!

Tune guitar to open D (tune with capo on 2nd fret) Open strum then hammer on/off the D string and hold with the A string for a moment before hammering off back to Key. Chorus seems to be an Emin chord played on E&A strings on 5th fret x 3 before sliding shape to 7th fret and back to Key. To get the riff simply take G string from 1..3..1...0 for the low part then G string 5...7...5 D string 7...5...4...0 Repeat. Have fun

A chance encounter with 'Hangover' on Triple J back in 1999 made me a lifelong fan of this band. To this day, when I talk about music with people, I mention this band and I'm greeted with blank stares and shrugs. It makes me feel like I am one of a (relative) privileged few worldwide who found and connected with band and their soul-soothing music. I agree with others on here when they say this band should have been bigger than it was. Regarding the song above: spine-tingling. Anyone know if the guitar uses open tuning and if so, what key?

This is a tall order. I have searched for chords and tablature for this song, and yet, they all show a different way of playing this song than to how Ian is playing the song in this video. I know the capo is on 2nd fret. But is it standard tuning. If anyone knows how to play the song in the same manner than he is playing it in this video, I will love you forever.
@JohannesWiberg8 жыл бұрын
Well, if you look properly you can't see that it's clearly not standard tuning. You can't hit an open chord like that in standard, especially not with E on top, with a capo on the 2nd fret. His guitar is tuned in an open D with E on the bass string - that is EADF#AD. You can see the chord he plays before the song, he frets 020100 at it come out as F#C#EABE (Em11, or more properly Em7add11). When you know the tuning, the song becomes pretty easy, just listen and try to emulate the sounds, he actually mostly strums with just a finger or two on the fretboard - it looks like he does more because he's muting the low string (as it's not part of the open chord tuning). Hope that helps.
