I kind of went with which looked nicest at first, but eventually i did go for something on the larger scale. I prefer having more clear viewing area than fashion. Contacts would be the ultimate clear viewing area, but i tend to be prone to infections. Having to touch my eyes daily is just not a risk i want to take. My eyesight is bad enough, i rather not deal with periodic eye infections on top of that.

Glasses are one of those thing one has to take the time to get right, it's all about trying on pair after pair to get something that will complement your face for years. it's not relly a fashion thing but it sort of is. Trends come and go, you just have to be okay with what fits your face and frames your eyes, eyelids and eye brows

But yeah I have prescription safety glasses for work and shooting but idk it's not the same. At the end of the day I still have an object strapped, protruding from my face. It's uncomfortable and doesn't work well with other gear often like face protection and hats/helmets

no joke: women approach me about my glasses all the time. I have a collection and I put in effort having them re-lensed and so on, but it does work. They make anti-fog coatings for your lenses that do work correctly, and you can get Airlock-type frames that lock in behind your ears and won't fall off even on a roller coaster. Take it from me. Lasik (laser eye surgery) is not that scary. My sister had it and you just gotta wait a couple days with your eyes covered then eventually your eyes get used to the new vision. She's 20/20 vision now, a lot better eyesight than me. After surgery you usually get photosensitivity (sensitive to light) that goes away eventually.

That worry is baseless because the removal of corneal tissue is irreversible. The eye cannot "heal" from that any more than you could heal from a surgery to amputate an arm. Whether or not it leads to good outcomes is a separate story. But it will not spontaneously reverse itself, either way.

Even one of her co-workers didn't have the best experience with laser eye surgery. Personally, I would never, because I HATE anything coming close to my eyes, even eye drops, which thankfully I don't need normally. Routine or not, no thanks. My astigmatism may be annoying, and require me to wear glasses while driving at night, but I think I'm fine with that. Fortunately, I don't need to regularly wear my glasses, otherwise I might be tempted to get the procedure done myself.

I'm pretty sure they numb your eyes for the surgery because even when you stare straight ahead your eyes still track back and forth because of how vision works. The subtle movements would ruin the procedure so they numb everything up so you can't blink or move your eyes at all for the entire procedure.

That's definitely not necessarily true or even true for most people. If you have trouble seeing at distance, it usually just gets worse as you age. The best you can hope for is to tread water and not actively worsen with the passage of time.

I remember reading somewhere to choose eyewear the opposite of your face shape. If you have a edged face, with prominent jawline and cheekbones and all that, get a rounded pair. If you have a rounded face, then get a rectangular pair. Not 100 sure. Feel free to correct

I think with laser surgery they paralyse the muscles you use to move your eyes. It's pretty easy to just safely stop muscles temporarily these days.

As someone that had lasik surgery, it is not that bad. Just follow the instructions during the procedure and dont be stupid during the recovery. But you must absolutely be at least 21 to be sure that your eye its fully developed and have done the eye scan the year prior with another one close to the surgery date for the doctor to be sure that you dont have an issue that the surgery cant fix, like keratoconus.

It's just not worth doing. There's so many stories of it going wrong for people. Just wear contacts and glasses. But I'm biased as I had non cosmetic eye surgery before. You have a limit on how many times each eye can get a surgery done so why waste it on something useless like lasik that doesn't work for 5% of people who get it.

Asian face shapes tend to have more height, particularly between the lower eyelid and the upper lip, and are in a sense more "spread out" so large glasses frames can fill that empty space. If your facial features are less spread out and instead closer together you end up looking like harry potter

Eyes are scary man. My dad got Lasik and three years later, and, I want to stress it was completely unrelated to the Lasik surgery, went in to get checked out for cataracts because he'd been dealing with floaters interfering with his vision. Well, the doctor gave him the all clear, only to have to go into emergency surgery literally the morning after the appointment because the floaters had been being caused by a microscopic tear in his retina which had completely ruptured overnight leaving his retina attached by a thread and they were barely able to repair it. While they were able to repair it, that eye is now legally blind and only good for providing depth perception. So my dad spent like 10k on Lasik just to get like three years of good vision.
