Gondor/Rohan/Dale Vs Mordor | 14,000 Unit Lord of the Rings Cinematic battle

The (long) Narrative of the Battle: Once more the foul hand of the Dark Lord had stretched forth into Rhovanion. Once he had a fortress foul and dark in Mirkwood, yet with his position there removed by the White Council, he had set up his power in Mordor. A dark, dry and hot region ever under the shadow of darkness it was, where vile things bred and good things imprisoned were corrupted beyond recognition. Once again, the Dark Lord had amassed his forces, seeking to reaffirm his once-held power over Rhovanion from Mirkwood. Having crossed the Dead Marshes by the few ways known, his armies marched Westward. Word spread faster than Eagles fly, and ere long the ears of Men heard and their arms responded. From Dale there came a simple but sturdy folk. Having survived the onslaught and long-awaited downfall of Smaug the Golden, and the Battle of the Five Armies, it is fair to state they are tougher than meets the eye. And if their archers are anything like their former king Bard, then they are a force to be reckoned with indeed. Further Westward, whereto the word of Mordor's army had also spread, lies Rohan the home of the Horselords. Over long wide plains and amongst mighty mountains, there lived a folk unlike others. They consider horses close to children of their own, and rumour says they ride before they can walk. And such steeds they care for! Mighty war horses the likes of which you wouldn't find elsewhere; their skin is as tough as a bear's, or so I've been told, and as fair as fur can get. Their manes flow flee yet strongly in the wind, and they ride far and enduring even with armour and armed rider. And no fiercer an opponent is there than a Rohirric whose wrath has been lit. Then South, a kingdom of legend, descendant of Numenor itself; Gondor. Their arms are the finest, their men possessing blood of Numenoreans, and although their glory long diminished they yet reveal much prowess that is more than a match for any Orcish or even human army. They have withstood the Hand of Sauron for generations, and they will continue to defy his armies yet! == 0:12 North of Emyn Muil, along Anduin the Great, there had united the Armies of Men to counter the Orcish army as it moved Northward. One of many Orcish army though this may be, the men united would halt their progress or die trying. Knights of Dol Amroth, of Minas Tirith and Rangers of Ithilien, and many a Riders of Rohan and warriors and archers of Dale marched there with armour gifted by the Dwarves of Erebor. Not knowing how many Orcs they might face, they marched knowing that together they could stand. For their loved ones back home, for their freedom, and to quench Darkness once more... 2:13 Gondor...Rohan...Dale. Holding position on a hill, there they stood, looking across the plain upon the Orcs marching upon them. Their vile voices and deep drums were heard from afar. These were no simple Orcs. They were led by determined Black Numenoreans, fiercest of Sauron's minions. The Orcish march was orderly, their armour thicker than others of their kin, and broad blades and spears. And of all their chants, one word kept returning: Kaht-muda. Some Officers of Gondor recognized their meaning: "Death to Men". The Men strove to keep courage, and they knew "the plan". But these Orcs *were* determined. A hard fight...was about to commence. 4:42 It was the middle of the day when the initiative began. Dale's archers volleyed their first arrows upon the Orcs. A long skirmish of arrow replied by arrow ensued, with Men and Orcs falling. The shields of Gondor, however, proved their worth, and Orcish archers lost momentum firing uphill. 6:17 It was when the full force of Orcs descended upon the ranks of Men, the numerical differences became evident. For one Men, there were at least three Orcs. Lucky were those who did not face the large pole-axes many an Orc seemed to carry, driving with berserker-like rage! The Men held their lines, their height and strength outmatching the Orcs; yet the bodies of Orcs seemed endless, and ever they drove harder into the lines. The armour of Dale, the ferocity of Rohan, and the strength of Gondor were each tested. But more so was their unity. Units of all Men began mingling in order to hold the lines, so fierce had been the Orcs' ferocity. Long the Men had to hold out, until the time was right... 9:12 By the sound of a horn blast, the Riders of Men rode forth. On three sides from the nearby forests, which the Orcs had ignored, they emerged; Dale, Rohan, and Gondor all following the other's example. The ground shook under the thundering hooves, and the sun reflected on their armour like darts of light. 10:05 The Men were pushed to their last. Officers and men around them were falling, even if taking many Orcs with them. The lines were thinning out, as Orcs craving for victory and blood turned to mad rage, losing much cohesion. There came a point where even the Archers, those who had used up their arrows, came to strengthen the lines 10:43 Yet ever the thundering of hooves neared. Dale's riders had come first! And right when the frontline seemed to give way, there came a loud clashing and deafening screaming of Orcs realizing they had been outflanked. Surely now the tide of battle had turned! 11:58 And there came a moment the leadership of Mordor proved near too much. They had kept pole-axes in reserve that only now revealed themselves, keeping their rear secure. Many a rider fell to their long spears. Yet those that avoided the pole-axes, such as Gondor's Riders did, wreaked havoc among the Orcish Archers who now proved so vulnerable. And once again the tide hung in the balance. Had the Men brought enough cavalry to counter the many Orcs? 13:29 A dreadful sight; the Riders, having lost so many against the poleaxes, withdrew away from the fight, leaving the Orc reserves to join the fight against the lines of Men. Wearied though they were, and remaining archers hammering them with many an arrow, they still posed a serious threat. Men feared their last stand was upon them, fighting fiercely for survival as Orcs began overwhelming the lines. 15:38 Then a horn blast, not heard for some hours, echoed over the field. Men looked up from behind their shields, over the Orcs in front of them, and in triumphant cries they beheld their Cavalry returning in renewed order and determination. And this time, no pole-axes to stand in their way. 16:04 Disorganized, scattered and occupied, the Orcs had no answer to this charge. In great number, they sought a way out of what had become a massacre of black blood. Yet few found their way out. Men once weary in the lines, now charged forth to greet their Riders, catching any Orc too weary or too slow to escape. No mercy was shown to them. And the Orcs that did escape the initial onslaught now found their heavy armour and weapons dragging them into death as enraged and merciless Men, of Gondor and Dale and Rohan, cut them down by blade, spear and arrow. Victory belonged to Men, that day. A temporary hard-won price. For beyond Mordor's walls, there ruled the Dark Lord with many more Orcs readying for war...

Aside from Warhammer, Total War series are about historical realism as much as they can, so that's why you don't see capes, it's impractical in real battle.

Ok so the Mordor army outnumbers the humans but during the battle the humans seem to have a much larger army with unlimited archers and cavalry that charges in the rear twice 🤔

The human armies could be more packed whilst Mordor made use of their numbers to stretch and put pressure on the humans. It's a tried and true tactic; and before you critcise it, not everyone is Hannibal or Napoleon- a battle is often swayed by what is seen, not what is known.

m2Tw had cavalry charge issues. If shogun 2 could have custom skins I think that would have been the best. It's possible to mod the attributes of soldiers in the original rome 1, however: so if you want a semi-realistic cav charge you can mod LOTR-TW's rohirrim (and other) units to have a greater mass and (a unit size of 500) and although unrealistic, but I suppose more realistic than zero trample, is elephant trample ability.
