Jeepers Jamboree started back in 1953 when a small group of Rotarians took on the task of creating an event to bring tourism and business to the Georgetown Divide. In Episode 3, Chris, Liam, and Edla, the Expedicon de las Americas CJ-7, take a break from the trail to spend time president Bob Sweeney and other key Jamboree organizers. They share insights on how Jamboree became known as the granddaddy of Jeep trips, how the Rubicon Trail became the best-known four-wheel drive trail on the planet, and how their volunteer staff hosts thousands of off-road enthusiasts each July.
Jeepers Jamboree started with World War II surplus Willys MB and Ford GPW flat fenders, and as new Jeep models were developed the CJ-5, CJ-6, CJ-7, Comanche, and Jeepster were standard fair. They were followed by the Jeep YJ, TJ, and Cherokee XJ. Today, the Wrangler JK, JL, and Gladiator JT are prevalent, and you’ll even see the occasional Toyota HiLux, Land Cruiser, Land Rover Defender, and Ford Bronco tackling the Rubicon’s rugged terrain and challenging obstacles on their way from Loon Lake to Lake Tahoe via The Devil's Playground.
Don't miss out on this multi-part series of the Jeepers Jamboree, the ultimate event for Jeep lovers!
