THE HAIR! We deal with it constantly, but owning huskies is the best experience in the world. They are so loving and the personalities are special. My first husky saved my life only a few weeks after I rescued him. He is my bestest buddy and my hero. God, I miss him every day. R.I.P. MAX. They are one of the oldest breeds and they are very loyal and friendly. Rescue a Husky today- you wont regret it! Peace.

You are spot on when it comes to their personalities and being a loving breed. I have 4 huskies and each one has such a different personality from the other. After having huskies you would never want any other breed,they are the most loving dog I've ever seen or owned. Your huskies are very beautiful.

Just found you on KZbin. We have an 11-month-old husky (our first). We got her when she was 8 weeks old and it has been a wild-and-crazy ride. We went from our beloved, 15-year-old Westie to the crazy-funny Husky, Minka. What can I say? She is absolutely amazing. Yes, she "pinches" us and digs huge holes in our yard, licks like crazy and chases our cat all over the house, but I wouldn't trade her for anything. I'm with you...the only negative is the hair-we use a Furminator to brush her out.

When I was -very- young, we had a husky named Xena. During a period, in which, we were doing some repairs at our house we had to put her in a leash for one month. She somehow got out of it, went to the neighbours house and killed all his 25 chicken. My dad gave her away to someone that wanted her. I have a repressed feeling for that and I want to get one cause... I don't know... that howling of hers (that I used to hear at night from my bedroom) is vividely imprinted in my head!

Amy White make sure your ready for it, Gone to the Snow Dogs and I and a lot of owners of huskies will tell you, they are a lot of work and they will require a lot of attention. I would say do some research on them and ask owners first.
@theHuskyCrew9 жыл бұрын
Amy White A word of caution. If you have never had a dog before, don't get a husky. If you don't have a fenced in yard, don't get a husky. If you are gone for more than 8 hours a day, have small animals, don't want to brush your dog 3 times a week, haven't done months of research, have never been around huskies before, and don't have the patience to spend 5x more time training than you would with an average dog, then don't get a husky! For a first time or inexperienced dog owner, I recommend a Golden.

our husky calmed down after we adopted another husky and kept one of their puppies; he isnt naughty out of boredom anymore (doesnt chew on everything) and can play with the others and therefore uses up some energy... also having fellow dogs around can teach puppies the limits of biting...

Great video and I agree with the pros & cons (the HAIR ugh!). I would also add their ability to find any hole in a fence to escape. They also like life on their terms. You might think you're training them, they're usually training YOU :). This is probably why you don't see a ton of them doing agility, been there, tried that lol. I also have Border collies, both great breeds but they are totally different personality wise!

A friend of mine used to travel a lot for business, so I'd take care of her Husky when she was out of town. It's an understatement to say they shed. It's more appropriate to call them the ultimate fur-making machines. Every single day when I'd brush her dog (outside!), I'd have fur up to my ankles, all around me. I adore Huskies, especially how smart and loving they are. But I hate hate hate their fur.

Well, if your dog is hyperactive, especially when they're young: Get up, run and run and run and run... This is what helps. I remember when our husky/border collie mix was little this was the only thing that helped - at least 2 hour walks + a looooot of running.. We were lucky that we live on a country where there are fields and forests where she can run free :)

I feel that this video doesn't respond the serious issue about the bad parts of owning a husky. As a former husky owner, shredding is the *LEAST* of the problems when considering getting a husky. I'd like to see a video with a serious discussion about the serious negative aspects of owning a husky. I feel that while you are being light hearted with your answer you are giving people the impression that huskys are easy dogs when in fact they are *not*. Huskys are REAL dog of a dog. They will NOT back down if challenged. They have high hunting instincts that must be surpressed and worked with. They cannot walk freely without a leash unless years of training is made. They are high maintenance dogs. They require a lot of both physical and mental stimuli - more so than other typical housedogs. Same-sex agression is not uncommon SPECIALLY amongst males. They can be incredibly stubborn. Highly intelligent dogs that WILL come up with michiefs if bored. They cant be left alone for hours. Some of them will wreck your house if left alone for too long. Etc. Etc. Etc. This is NOT a breed for beginners! I'd be interested if you made a serious discussion video talking about these issues with more serious topics so that people seriously learn the responsibility huskys require. Love your content but these real problems should be adressed in my opinion.
@ilariaorlando60369 жыл бұрын
MechaAkuma She adressed them many times in the past. Also not only husky's are high maintenance dogs. I hate it when people say "Oh nice dog, but they're so hight maintenance", dude almost every big dog breed is energetic and needs attention and alot of activity. Have you ever seen a border collie? They rip your house apart when they're bored, they herd your children when you don't raise them right, and they need a lot of brain stimiulation. Stop talking about husky's like they're the only high energy/high maintenance breed in the world. Getting ANY dog breed should be a well researched and discussed decision. Also, not being a breed for beginners, that a load of crap. Not being a dog for people who didn't research the breed, yes, but that counts for a lot of breeds in my opinion. I've seen alot of other breeds being mistreated because the owners thought "oh what a cute dog" without thinking it through or researching what kind of breed it was and what kind of needs it had.

everything Mechaakuma just wrote is 110% TRUE! i have raised 3 generations and they WILL punish you for lack of exercise, and "exercise" doesn't mean a walk around the block once a day. Its means a several mile bike RUN at least a few times a week with 3 mile walks in between

My husky was such a gentleman. He never barked, he would just put his paw on your leg to be let outside. His favorite food was a loaf of rock solid stale bread, which he would carry around with pride for a few hours before eventually burying it in the backyard. His preferred activity was running, so we would ride a bicycle behind him with the leash in one hand. Squirrels meant hazard for the rider, but it was worth it because he loved it so much. The cancer began in his paw. He was Zipper.

We have a Boxer now and are considering buying a Sibe. I have researched the net all day for answers to all of my questions and I am starting to get a bit turned off from what I'm reading. The prey drive, digging, and escaping the yard seem to be my biggest worries. The hair can be delt with. Draining the energy out of this breed...daily may also be too challenging for us. It's seems to me that a Sibe needs constant cognitive training or they will easily become bored and then who knows what will

Spaying or neutering dogs helps before behavioral mannerisms have set in, that means don't leave it until you have a problem. If your dog is not for breeding, get it to the vet early. This is also important for frenchies and terriers.

Oh one other thing I forgot to mention...you talked about the lab that you had before your huskies and how active it was...a little more than you could handle.
