This album will always be part of my DNA - I absorbed it as a teenager on wind caressed autumn evenings drinking stolen wine and taking mushrooms whilst inhaling the smell of freshly ploughed Midlands fields. Fast forward 30 years and I can still be found near my Dartmoor home picking September psylocybin to last the year, low damp mists, droplets of dew hanging from sheep horns, loamy leaf mould hiding black beetles and tin ore, Gong on the 1210s when I get home, children's laughter and a loving wife rolling carefully grown green. All is good in the world 😍

there was a very early version of Gong. Some members with Daevid and Gilli were on a related album around 1968 and very very obscure... about 100 copies pressed... a double album... called Princess Moonflower or something... It's recorded in a Paris apartment a line up that will be unfamiliar to most of us. Ps- there's even some film footage of them on here at the Ville Grille. They included a stunning, tripped out, beauty called Ziska Baum, who has been credited with originating the 'space whisper'

I found this on the Actuel label while looking for free jazz albums. An accidental discovery for which I am grateful. I found the Art Ensemble of Chicago and Sun Ra as well. Discount Records in Cambridge!

yeah im a fan of both sun ra & the art ensemble de chicago great bands they make original music how they wanted to make it & are both highly original.sun ra created the first electric piano in the 50,s the ensemble did a great tune i play a lot called theme de yo yo with great vocals & blinding horn.s very much in the exceptional coltrane tonal attack.great music & gong ive seen so many times ive lost count lol great post peace...

@@djbigleg3228 Theme de YoYo sung by Lester Bowie's then wife-Fontella Bass. She scored a hit record in the U.S. with "Rescue Me"! I was actually lucky enough to meet and talk with Sun Ra in 1973 and met some of the AACM (Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians) in 1974-Richard Abrams, Steve McCall, Henry Threadgill, Leroy Jenkins, Sirone--when I was at University of Massachusetts in Amherst. Saw Sun Ra a few times. Saw the Art Ensemble around 1979 I think! Fantastic show-So many saxophones and clarinets!!!

@@garygomesvedicastrology yeah i couldnt remember her name sorry fontella bass i was looking for the lp & gonna update my comment.but she was a great singer & if you want real music culture you cant go wrong with these bands.you might not get what your expecting though lol.but you were lucky to have met & witnessed such great musicians.i lost some great live art ensemble gigs on you tube they were blocked sadly & it could have brought the label many new sales.but i guess they dont think about that & they automatically block so much stuff today its sad.because the full story of these bands remains untold to many who basically dont know it even exists because it constantly gets blocked, great post nice talking to you peace...

As good and as proficient as the Gnome trilogy was, these early records stand apart and tower over them. This one, the masterpiece Camembert Electrique, Bananamoon and Obsolete are about all one needs.

Amazing thing done without the synthesizers of Tim Blake which came later, thus much more raw and basic yet trippy at the same time. Not knocking Tim. or the later albums though. i love em all. Banana Moon and Camembert Electrique, were also somewhat raw but excellent music. Daevid like Frank Zappa with the Mothers, never wanted Gong to become stagnant, hence the frequent lineup changes. Kept Gong from being stuck in a rut.
