If this band keep recruiting members who can pull this shit off on a regular basis when the others leave or die, Gong could live forever! 😁👍👌. Wouldn’t that be the most cosmic thing ever?
@maddannafizz Жыл бұрын
😂 I grew up with them illuminating my way through 70's on. It is a different Gong without Daeve in it, but better than nought. Musical virtuoisity is still there. But only early Gong took my brain out of my head and flew it to the creative universe 🔥

Yesterday I was talking with a good friend about what makes a band continue to be recognisably the same entity. Clearly it is not the band members... Look at Gong - This is undeniably Gong despite, I believe, having no original members, yet Yes, pretty much currently made up of musicians who have all been in Yes at one time or another, simply seem to have lost whatever it was that made them "Yes". Long live Gong!

Ditto with Hawkwind - the groove keeps going and the sound persists. Long live starship Gong and space explorers Hawkwind.

Saw these guys last night in Bristol. Absolutely blew my head off. They are so tight... twisting, pulsing, ebbing, and flowing. At times funky, rocky, tribal; knitting together onto a patchwork wall of sound....and my god that drummer. The brownies definitely were a great idea

What a tight band, and it has all the right Gong elements - spaceyness, wackiness, musicianship and fun.

I bought the first post Daevid album but not the second. I think this has convinced me that Gong is still alive even if Daevid is not contributing lyrics. Everything about this music is great. Love that sax sound.

Spoiled by saxophone. This is not the sort of music that should have saxophone in it
@SunFellow9413 жыл бұрын
That's funny, because I just played this for the first time and all I could think of was how good the sax playing was! Definitely elements of free jazz in there...
@peter_aka_hamamass3 жыл бұрын
I think it fits perfectly❗ David used it quite a lot too, and i think, he would approve 👍🏻 But, that is "my" opinion 😉
@chrischudley42283 жыл бұрын
You're obviously new to Gong then.
@cloudfactory20003 жыл бұрын
@@chrischudley4228 ,not really. Heard their stuff before and it was also ruined by sax. Would probably have got a few albums if it wasn't for that. Hawkwind are another in the same position. Camel had a bad spell in the mid to late 70s after getting a sax player in for a while. Thank goodness he has long since been dropped.
@bmmaaate3 жыл бұрын
sax is the best bit. Gong have loads of sax, thats what makes them jazz.
