This is a practice I've been doing for some time now, which I'd like to share with you.
After Gongyo, as I chant, I find it very effective to focus on specific things for 2 minute intervals. It helps me catch myself when my mind has wandered to other other things. When I become lost in thought, the 2 minute bell brings me back to my focus.
Here is specifically how to do it:
1. Write down 4 or 5 things you want to chant for. (for me, it's compartmentalized as business success, music success, studio thriving, and self-care, and then 2 minutes to re-focus on any of them incase I've become distracted)
2. Do Gongyo, and chant for each of those elements for 2 minutes. If, when the bell rings, you notice you've been lost in thought, don't get down on yourself; just refocus on the subject for the next 2 minutes. (If I have time, I often restart the 10 minutes if I've been too distracted).
3. Do this every day. It will help improve your focus and you will find yourself manifesting these things in your life.
