Animated was just completely perfect for toys. The G1 redesign route works for Prowl on what I've seen, hopefully they keep the balance. Prime Skyquake also looks like a good balance.

Yeah, if the line's going to be Animated Characters with more G1 proportions, then I'm all for it. Especially if Lockdown ends up being a new mold, alongside the eventual Lugnut.

I own a deluxe-class animated Optimus prime and that thing is still very good by today's standards, and I prefer that mould because it doesn't have the gimmick on the voyager one.

And also the Deluxe one is in nice scale with most of the figures in the toyline like Sentinel Prime (which is Deluxe-only), Voyager Starscream, Leader Megatron (Earth-body) (which was massive in Season 1 and 2), just to name some examples.

Also I just wanna add the TFA theme song / intro is a BANGER. Still my favorite rendition of the classic theme. They really went all out to modernize it in 2008 that still holds up to this day.

Plastic honestly might not be different, it might just be the texture the factory applied to the texture. From my experience adding a light texture to plastic inherently makes it feel more dense and quality for some reason. Qualifications: I’ve filled out probably 100 texture memo documents dictating plastic molding texture. I know the show you’re going to! Glad these things run every few months!

I used to love this toy line and show a lot. I didn't have a lot of these figures growing up, but I had optimus, ratchet, lockdown, bumblebee, and lockdown in deluxe class. I owned prowl for two days before my brother came to visit, and I gave him the prowl because I loved him, and we lived apart at that time. My favorite was a voyager shockwave I found at a store a few years after the series ended. I loved this show and this series. I can't wait to buy the legacy toys. Here's hoping they get stylised looks.

@ThatToyGuy I believe you have to keep the legs compressed but have all the tires at the bottom for the gimmick to work, you might also have to keep all the tires on the outside. it also has to click all the ratchets all the way

ok after messing with it around a bit more you gotta keep the legs straight (and compressed with all the tire kibble at the bottom) if it's not straight it won't have enough weight in the right spot to keep the momentum going

Be careful with the animated bumblebee when you get him. His shoulders use ball joints and the connection on the torso has a chance of breaking.

Animated is still my favorite adaptation of all time. The character design is still fresh to look at because of how exagerrated they look that oozes personality. I’m so lucky that I was still able to keep my Voyager Optimus after all these years because I’m still in awe how they managed to nail the style of the show in toy form. Now I’m back on the hunt to find figures I missed out on like Megatron and Ultra Magnus.

Always really enjoyed this variation of Prime, and the Animated line as a whole. Never had much use for the auto spin gimmick and an update, without it, and better articulation would be interesting to see. Never did mind the truck bits on the back, but never did like the axe as it was to big/unwieldly. Never knew the water gun accessory was intended to squirt water as I never looked at it too closely.

I remember I had this guy (or at least some version) he was pretty cool. But I was like 5 - 6 so I never "respected" how good actually was, I think it came with a DVD of the first couple episodes of Animated, so cool he turned into a firetruck but still looks like G1 Optimus, I may have to pick him up again, also great video

I think this should be a pretty easy slam dunk for Legacy. All they gotta do is remove all the shitty gimmicks, give it thigh swivel to replace the shin swivel, give it wrist rotation, panel covers for the wrists, and then boom, Legacy Optimus Prime.

I literally just finished watching TFA, and it was soooo good. Was inspired to watch it after the flux of TFA content and my own toys, Black Arachnia, Prowl, Battle Damage OP and Megs, who some are unfortunately missing parts or broken (abdomen and fang for BA, missing siren lights and broken thumb for Prowl, and worst of all, missing Meg's Fusion Cannon). The TFA line looks so good.

The figure waist should have a washer piece that increases the friction with a notch opening towards the front.

There's actually a way to lock that waist so it doesn't flop around. There is a blue tab behind the grill. And in the waist area there is a groove where it's supposed to fit in. What that does is it locks the gimmick itself, and allows the real waist joint to actually move.

funny thing about the waist joint, it's not actually loose. the spinning thing locks into a notch on the waist that kinda "locks" it into place and makes it tighter but still useable as a waist joint.

This doesn't need much for a legacy reimagining, just mix in a little G1 and some 5mm ports, then add a fire engine trailer that can store weapons (Double Fire hose gun that separate and attaches to the forearms, then a new energon fire axe on the side like the classic fire truck would) and maybe give it the ability to transform and combine with the TFA Optimus Legacy figure for his flying super mode. Then just need to update the: joints to make them stronger, mask to either come off or be on push tabs to come out from the helm and meet in the middle, waist joint/peg to be stronger and allow it to rotate and the ability to stay stable with a lot of weight attached to it, maybe posable hands, like Rodimus' I still hate that Legacy Bulkhead, that cab body not being collapsible is an issue for me, but has some of the best upgrade kits though. I'll just get a 3rd party Bulkhead at some point.

His waist dose lock, so it isn't loose. I hated the loos waist at first too until I found this out. There is a tab under the grill which tabs in like a ring on the bottom half. It's sometimes misaligned but you can see it easy. Unless the tab is broken on your used copy.

As someone who still has pretty much the entire animated toyline, of you can, get leader bulkhead instead of voyager. Scale better and does more fun things. Can even use the back kibble as a seat, like in the show!

Was fortunate to have gotten these Animated figures back in the day as I have probably 90% of the main toy line. My Animated Optimus was the first Voyager I gotten and to this day his joints are all fine (not as loose as yours). Did get Wing Blade Optimus back in 2010 at London Comic Con (was the only one at the Expo while there were alot of Jet Pack Bumblebees). Oddly my fav Animated figure is Sentinal Prime. Not sure sure why, but I just enjoy it loads. If I had to choose the worst Animated fig, I suppose maybe Swindle due to his arms and legs being made of clear plastic and needing to twist them to get him into vehicle mode (the creaks it makes when I do that ain't pleasant).

Animated bumblebee is the weakest of the toys, but overall, that line is a joy. How they made those toys so cartoon accurate, I have no idea, but I love them.

There has been discussion about Studio Series expanding outside of the movies. They thought about doing Animated and Prime to move to that line. This figure is too hard to top, I do own a few Animated figures (this, Activators Bumblebee, Starscream, Purple Shockwave and Soundwave). I used to own Leader Class, Bulkhead, Grimlock, Activators Thundercracker, Activators Lockdown, Lugnut, and Blitzwing. Now I lost them, alongside the Laserbeak accessory for Soundwave. I do plan to hunt several of them down, along with those I missed out
