Sacramento Kings just committed to sharing Golden 1 Center with Sac State for BB if they are admitted by PAC. A 6k + arena is what Sac State is missing and that will take many years. That arena is close to campus and a great venue to host the likes of Gonzaga, SDSU, pac 12 title games, etc. Let’s get that market (#20) and N Cal recruiting area locked in on the cheap. They are certainly as valuable or more to media partners as Fresno or Logan.

@JBB-Beavs3 ай бұрын
@@paulmezzetta6905, fair point. Obviously each university has their own views and rationale. I think that the media partners see SJSU as the 8th (?) best entity in the Bay Area and they might not value them for more than a couple million. Sac State is the #2 athletic entity in the #20 market in the country. They might be worth 8(?) million to a network? It appears to be an untapped area. Plus FSU and SDSU are much farther along in talent and have SoCal secured. They get some extra reach into NoCal recruiting, can build new rivalries that they should dominate for a while, and of course, money. I think CA is big enough to allow for 3 universities in a conference. The MWC just had that and I don’t think SJSU was that much of a threat to FSU and SDSU.

Regionality is a luxury that the PAC can’t afford. The old PAC couldn’t even afford it. I think they’ll happily grab 3-5 eastern schools if they can and I think they’d also look to get some eastern non-football schools like Wichita to help pad the travel and bolster basketball.

The MWC can add a FCS school for their 8th full member! Why? MWC would have a two year grace period-2026 and 2007- to have 8 full members. So if they add 1 or 3 FCS schools- who have a two year transition period- the MWC would be compliant in 2028 because they will have at least 8 FBS members in 2028!

Get into TX recruiting for Football and grab Texas State. Lock in 8th all sports school now. Texas State is also a better performing BB program than USF, Tulane, and UTSA in past 4 years. Get Sac State. Good story, not settling. All conferences need a team that loses some games. #20 market, eager to grow, lots of money coming in, SAC is basketball city. In 5 years, is Sac State the next James Madison? But they want to get $ share per school high so 9 Football gives you 8 conf games. Add two more good BB non-football schools to stay at 12 and a find that nimble space for 2031 when the next major shift will happen - if not before with ACC. But I am just a fan and am not in those big meetings.

St. Marys, Santa Clara , New Mexico and UNLV need to brought into the PAC 12 immediately. That shores up the basketball and football with best available teams in the western u.s. There really isn't any other "good" football or b-ball schools available in the western half right now.
@deanfirnatine78143 ай бұрын
The Pac 12 would be foolish to stop at 8 or 9 teams for football, it would make them the smallest conference by far and constantly keep them on the precipice of doom if they got raided by the Big 12 or someone else. All the football conferences are in the teens as far as numbers, some as high as 17 or more? (except for the MWC that just got raided). The Pac 12 needs to go out and do what it has to in order to get every decent football or basketball team it can, while it can before they get snatched up by the Big 12 or ACC or AAC. They have to get to 8 football teams by 2026 but if they wait until 2027 they can get those AAC schools at a far lower exit fee if they give 27 months or more warning, that solves much of the problem the Memphis AD cited. Wilner is positive and has ambition for the Pac 12 to be something special while John seems content to do the bare minimum.

The reason for having less teams is they split the media money less ways. Thats the main reason they did not merge with the MWC. The big conferences have all their teams or almost all of them adding to the evaluation. Memphis is really the only AAC school they should nab IMO maybe take St Marys for non football. Then they wait for UNLV, Stanford and Cal to get out of their committments as the years go by.
@bradymoon18893 ай бұрын
I think getting to ten teams is a must so they can have a conference championship game. I like making Memphis the farthest East team by adding 2 texas teams. I prefer UTSA and N. TEXAS but would not mind Texas St. I also like adding GCU with Gonzaga for a 12 team BB league.

@@bradymoon1889 Conference title games are not essential and for a G5 conference lower the best teams odds of getting into the playoff. Lets be real conference title games are there to print money. If the P12 all play each other the best 2 teams playing again is only going to hurt the best teams chances cause they might lose. Also whats up wth people thinking Grand Canyons a better non football option than Saint Marys?? Grand Canyon just got promoted from D2. I'm not the biggest College basketball person maybe they are just that good the last few years but I don't get it. They told schools like Nevada and San Jose State they weren't good enough but Grand Canyon is?

@@commodorezero Nevada and San Jose St would take football money, while GCU does not. Saint Marys is a college and its gym only holds 3,500 while GCU arena holds 7,000 You make a great argument for a 9 team FB league. Play the other 8 conference members, and and can improve their records without beating each other up in there 4 non conference games. Although it will be harder to get these Bigger conferences to schedule the PAC when they are already in super conferences.
