The saddest thing about this and so much "written" about Thompson is the quick dismissal of his extraordinary talent and that he drank it away before the end of the 70s. At some point, in this flawed pointlessness, Thompson is shown in later years struggling to simply read his own words. I love his work but he was a massive idiot.
