The Goo Goo Dolls performing Fallin' Down live at The Metro! The Goo Goo Dolls were formed in Buffalo, NY, in 1985 by guitarist/vocalist Johnny Rzeznik, bassist Robby Takac, and drummer George Tutuska, initially under the name the Sex Maggots. Originally a cover band with a taste for power pop and classic rock & roll, the group soon began writing its own songs. Their early sound recalled the Replacements’ origins as a bratty punk band - melodic, snotty, and a little bit thrashy. That sound was the reason the band attracted the interest of the heavy metal label Metal Blade, which issued their debut album in 1987 (known either as The Goo Goo Dolls or First Release). Released in 1989, Jed continued in a similar vein; the college radio breakthrough came with 1990′s Hold Me Up.

@Eddie V I myself am not a big fan of synthetic sounds and most of today's music not only is synthetic and we don't even want to go down the road of shameful, incoherent meaningless babble they call lyrics!!! With all that being said, I too struggled with the Gooz trying to keep up with today's garbage music sounds (I am a long time fan) in my eye's it was so beneath them, but this last album "Miracle Pill" (although I do not care for the song Miracle Pill it's self) there were a lot of awesome songs on it, like Autumn Leaves,if you ever hear them do this song live "man" the guitar riff they go into is let's just say I fell in love with the Gooz all over again!!! And the song Lost, the acoustic version, so much better then first release (but I love it too) And the song lights on and over you and think it over, Man they are all great songs!!! No it's not 1990s kind of Goo, but NONE of us are 1990s kind of kids anymore!!!

I love that about Robby! he's never given up the long hair either...even though john did (I'm debating what he looks better in. i think it depends) It's funny though because the teens these days have like the exact same hair style as john did in this show, which is crazy that that style is coming back 😂

I saw this version of GGD opening for Teenage Fanclub and they had this Raplacements/Husker Du feel going on like here. Great fun. No wonder Alex James loves them. He sounds like them here.

great stuff. I saw them the summer of '95 at Tradewinds in Sea Bright, NJ. even thought "the boy named goo" album. the show still had this punkish feel to it. I wonder if Tradewinds even there anymore. I left jersey & assuming Tradewinds washed out to sea during Sandy

@@lisaskaggs3457 I do too. My introduction to the Goos was _Before It's Too Late_ - the song from _Transformers_ - and I thought they always made music like that. I was pleasantly surprised they made songs like _Fallin Down, Girl Right Next to Me, and Cuz You're Gone._ And their early punk stuff is a must for any ruckus party.

Out of the old stuff my Favs are Cuz Your Gone, Long Way down & Lazy Eye, Favs of the newer and new stuff is Souls in The Machine, Pin & Lost in my mind ( Lost ) But there's so much more to love, these are just at the top of my list!!!
