It was nice to hear Velja being adamant about hearing what the problem was. He didn't understand, so he pushed until he got the info he was looking for. When he did get that info, he then accepted in and absorbed it. He was a bit quiet early, but I'm glad to see him now coming into his voice a bit. And props to Caedral for calming down the discourse and getting the big picture that was WAY more important than the individual plays.
@darrenfleming790111 күн бұрын
true but also I feel like some people on the team are less comfortable with conflict, like Caedrel and Rekkles, while others are fine with arguing and getting into specifics, like Velja and Crownie. I was listening to Crownie’s podcast with Dom and he said that what he valued the most in teammates was their willingness to learn and to talk about details, and that’s what I see Velja doing. They’re debating and not arguing, Velja wasn’t getting flustered or frustrated he just wanted to understand. I think there is a clash on this team between the northern european politeness and the eastern european attitude of debating things, and Caedrel shouldn’t get in the way of those discussions just because he is uncomfortable with it. But it’s hard to navigate those situations and he’s doing a good job.

I like the fact, that Rekkles in the end spoke up about what was bothering him this day and not just tank it up, since he was pretty low engaging in the comms this time compared to the scrimms before. Just a thought about game one, but I think you need to prod Rekkles more for his thoughts during game review because he seems to both really blame himself and also be kinda shy about giving feedback. Also I don’t think Velja feels like he’s being blamed or minds being called out about his pathing, I think he wants to go into the specifics of where his thought process went wrong and maybe the conceptual lesson isn’t easy for him to apply unless he sees it ingame.
@tapewoerm11 күн бұрын
Yeah, I also think Velja might have gotten too much attention cus honestly Rekkles went mute pretty early and Velja is still adapting as a fairly inexperienced pro player so it’s needed from team (specifically support) to support the comms and tempo where he’s lacking and need to catch up.

I was wondering whether you'd add the discussion between Rekkles and Caedrel after game 4, I think it's very big that you added it. Rekkles at the start of his stream today wrote an apology/explanation of what was going through his mind during this set of scrims and sent them out to the boys. He showed it to chat as well, so I imagine he wanted people to understand what was going through his mind. I think it's totally up to you as the editor whether you want to show that in your next video, personally I think it was a very nice conclusion to this. He also asked later on in the stream from the boys if they saw it and that was a very wholesome moment too. Either way very nicely edited video! Thank you for your hard work!

Yeah, I totally agree. It'd be a great way to end the review sessions, just a quick "Holy shit did you guys see this? It absolutely killed me." Editor is a hero. In regards to the "Do you like just watching with me or should I cast the game?" I personally like to hear you a little more vocal/emotional during the games. It is what makes watching these scrims exciting imo. I don't think that means casting them in a play by play sense, but understanding what you would like to see the team doing, reacting to the good or bad plays etc would make the viewing experience a lot more interesting. That being, I want to see the team doing well so if that distracts from your ability to coach to the best of your abilities and you want to focus up on the game then that is totally fair.

Reposting this until Caedrel takes notice, because of people's demand on another video: Caedrel, also a quick tip if tilting ever gets too hard and they despair a little too much after a rough day: It helps a lot that you are saying, they are better than this, but what else you could try is that after those games, they should tell themselves three things that went well today. Even if they are miniscule, like: I played fight xyz great, I called out my position good today etc. Just that they also reinforce the little and positive things, because we as humans, especially in a competitive enviroment tend to focus more on the fuckups than the positives, when we reflect. And this helps recall the good things that were achieved that day.

I agree completely. I'd even go as far and say it is AS important to reinforce their strength and what they do well each game than to fix mistakes, because otherwise people tend to forget those and focus so much on improving their weaknesses they lose their strength (Which might even become a weakness now as they overcompensate)

@Killroy00711 күн бұрын
As I interpreted it rekkles was unhappy because for him to perform well he needed to heavily focus on his champs micro and kit in general. Which in turn, even if he does well, means he doesnt know what he could learn from this that isnt just soloQ learnable, because its champ "basics" especially when his headspace isnt there. Especially with austism its difficult to adapt on the fly for things you put your expectations for the day on. Thats why rekkles wanted a specific talk beforehand to directly specify what he should expect from the day and what he needs to focus on.

Well the idea of scrims isnt to win them. No one ever got a scrimcup and scrimbucks dont buy shit. The whole point of putting time into a scrim is to learn and rekless likely feels that he isnt learning anything here that he couldnt also learn in soloq because hes just focussing on the champ and nothing else, no combos no macro, just maokai.
