FNaF is like Evangelion; they both put in evidence that things can be done in a very different way than the usual, one being the mind-blowing Fanta-Promoted life-changer visual experience of being heavily deppressed, and the other being the first proof that not every indie game is trash, and that indie developers can do really great things

You're wrong about one thing. Scott actually was given something: criticism. His previous games were ridiculed for their choppy animations that looked like creepy animatronic movement. He took that criticism to heart, and decided to make a horror game using animatronics as the main focus. Without that initial criticism, FNAF wouldn't exist.

I wrote a poem on this ending. The Happiest Day, the darkest night We wanted to scream, but we were all mute Our spirits should rise, to Heaven in flight But our souls were lost, trapped inside the suits We chased him down there, released from our graves There was no escape, He screamed and he pled Climbed into the suit, it snapped and it caved The man shared our fate, and soon he was dead The ending has come, we’re finally free The lights have gone dark, the end of the mess No more of "you can't", no more of “it’s me” The party’s over, and now we will rest Our tombs on the ground, our souls in the sky Leaving for Heaven, We finally die.

FNAF is 6 years old as of when I'm writing this (August 8th, 2020). It's also the closing hour of the night, 11 PM. And I'm spending my time reminiscing on old memories with this game and in general. I don't think Scott really realizes what he's done in general with this franchise. Yeah sure he may love his community to death and he understands how big of an impact this game made but... I'm not sure he knows how big that impact actually is. He's changed so many people's lives, either for better or sadly for worse. He changed the horror game industry. He's made music careers, KZbin careers, with this single game. He's done so much, and I think it's a hard thing to fully grasp when you're the creator of something as big as this. The only people that'll fully get it are the fans; the people who had their lives changed just from sitting in a weird Chuck E. Cheese rip-off location with murderous animatronic animals coming to stuff you in one of their suits. They're the ones that speak the volumes, the ones that this game has impacted. And guess what? Even outside of the fandom, we're still talking about it. Yeah sure the franchise is still going strong, as I'm writing this currently Security Breach is the next new FNAF game and I'm pretty sure in the not-so-far future there'll be at least 4 new games, but people are still talking about that first landing. The first playthrough, the first Markiplier video, the first Living Tombstone song, the first SFM, the first... well, everything. And all in such a positive and nostalgic light. I think that should be the defining part of a career: something you made, something you put hours into, something that you either made for fun or, in Scott's case, meant to be a send off to something you worked your ass off towards, has made someone's childhood or teenage life. That is something that is truly special and that you cannot take away from someone: a sense of youth. And while that may vary from person to person, it all still holds the same message: you did something incredible. You managed to make your little game, video, whatever, be put into someone's life for a good memory. It doesn't matter what installment of the franchise it is, it doesn't matter what video it is, it doesn't matter what the music piece is, you managed to be apart of someone's life in a good light, and that's something you should be proud of. I've been a part of this ride since the very beginning and I can tell you it's never gonna stop for me. I've met a great group of friends while in this fandom, had great experiences, and had some fan-boyish moments not gonna lie. However, for the people that are an ex-fan of this series, even if they no longer are a part of the fandom, they still carry treasured and special moments that have stayed and will stay with them for forever. And to that I say: thank you. Thank you for sharing your fan-art, your SFMs, your conversations, or just for being in the fandom in general. I know we may have a stained and dried-up look in your memory but deep down we still appreciate you and what you've done for the community. Thank you. And to Scott: thank you for everything. You're the one that's changed so many lives, the one that's made countless amounts of good memories and unforgettable times, the one that's made KZbin careers, the one that made this game and started everything. And we cannot put into words how much we love you. You have done so, so much for us, and we are nothing but thankful to everything you've done to help us be where we're at right now. We all love you, so much. Never forget that. Ah, FNAF, even though I have strong, mixed feelings on where the games are going now, you still have such a soft place in my heart. Those first 4 games are such important pieces in countless amounts of lives and we honestly wouldn't know what we were to do if they weren't to exist. Godspeed, you beautiful bastard.

2023. That is the year when six children, after 40 years of suffering, were set free. 10 of being driven by revenge after their death. 30 years of being empty shells inside an abandoned pizzeria. A pizzeria burning down is what set them free. William Afton is still alive. Their murderer is still alive. But that doesn't matter. What matters is that the children stopped their quest for revenge, and went to the afterlife.

This popped into my head once MatPat announced his retirement. FNAF MADE the Game Theorists, and skyrocketed his popularity and impact on the internet. He was known as the “FNAF lore guy,” and I’m sure the games themselves wouldn’t have gone nearly as far without his impact. This makes his cameo in the movie all the more poetic. He may have been a crazy nerd at times, but he was OUR crazy nerd. Thanks for everything, MatPat. We’ll miss ya.

So in the bad ending, the lights and bars were shown in the animatronic’s heads and the lights represent the souls of the children and the bars represent prison bars, so they could not escape and were trapped forever in the heads of the animatronics. But in this good ending, there is no lights and no bars, so that represents that the souls of the children are free and are not doomed to spend eternity in the heads of the animatronics. If you got this far without falling asleep, I applaud you.

My heart honestly shattered from this ending.. Not from sadness.. Of joy that the poor children that were tortured.. Tournamented.. Murdered.. Are free now.. Chica had her beak open because she was screaming for help.. Wanting to leave her horror... Bonnie looked into the camera begging for help.. Seeking shelter from the demons that followed.. Each and everyone.. Had so much torture upon them.. And now there finally set free.. There in a better.. And happier place now..

Well. Here we are. Back at this video again the night of Scott’s message to the community announcing his retirement after one hell of a rough week. This series...it changed my life in so many ways. It taught me to create, to draw, to write, to enjoy horror and to meet new people. It showed me what it was like for the first time ever, to actively be a part of an awesome fan base from beginning to glorious end, and to think that back when I was 14, I was too scared of the thumbnails to even watch a video about it, and here I am now writing original horror stories inspired by Scott’s work. The future is uncertain. FNAF could grow and expand even further under glorious new leadership, or it could crash and burn into a husk of its former self. It’s the first time in the series’ history where we truly don’t know what’ll come next. The sense of familiarly, the promise of a solid title made by a guy who treats his fanbase like family, that’s all gone now. Even the public view of him has been tainted, damaged beyond feasible repair. It’s scary to think about. You know what though? That’s okay. Because at the end of the day, sink or swim, we can’t change the past 7 years of FNAF that we got under Scott. 7 years of ridiculous story, fun dialogue, and some crazy animatronic designs. If everything changes, and FNAF simply can’t live on how we remember it, then I suppose we’ll just have to be happy that we got the chance to enjoy these last 7 years with Scott when we did. Thank you so much Scott Cawthon.

This theme really symbolizes FNaF, it really sounds like it’s the end of the whole franchise, quite the journey it’s been since 2014 and now here we are in 2023. Its been quite an honor being a FNaF fan since it’s beginning, I’ve met so many great friends because of it, this was the first horror game to give me literal nightmares and It has given me and a lot of other people so much nostalgia and memories to remember forever. It was all done by the man Scott Cawthon, I cannot thank him enough for giving all of us these wonderful games as it was the basis for us growing up and for many youtubers at their beginning. it saddens me that the FNaF movie will be the final piece of art Scott will make for FNaF but no matter what we will always be there for him. I was 5 when FNaF first came out and since then I grew up with this trilogy, I remember me and my friends use to always speculate on the lore of what the bite of 83 was and to learn about the Afton family. The amount of fan games and videos that have come out is absolutely amazing such as candy’s or the VHS vids, the amount of impact Scott has had over us all these years is quite outstanding and the fact that he retired but he still manages to be part of FNaF just shows how much Scott has loved us and his series as a whole, so from the bottom of my heart, god bless you and… -Thank you Scott

Actually, kids hold a special place in the stomach cavity of those animatronics!
Coming back to this 8 years later. All of the memories that this game itself, the easter eggs, the jumpscares, all the characters, every single pseudo-3D image that made up the atmosphere of Five Nights At Freddy's 1-3..., flash before me especially after hearing this solemn theme... All of the gameplay we would watch because we were probably in middle school at the time and in turn couldnt afford the games... All of the theories that we would ponder about brought up by our favorite content creators either in our own heads or with our middle school friends... Markiplier | MatPat | Dawko | Smike | PewDiePie | Razzbowski | 8-BitGaming | And many more... All of the songs we listened to.... The Living Tombstone | DAGames | TryHardNinja | And many more... All of the FNAF animations and skits people would make and watch from the most niche and independant of people... Garret Williamson | HotDiggityDemon | Tony Crynight | SteveRayBro | Lixian | Piemations | MovieUnleashers | Rye-Rye99 | And also many more... Even the animatics being the more niche and the rather... teen-style edgy ones... Sonic99Rae | DietStab | Animationwolfyumi14 | And also many more... A part of our entire lives all stemming from only one person and his creative vision whose vision was a last-ditch effort in Game Development but fortunately would become one of the most widely successful independent video game franchises of all time. From the millions of people from the ones who got either their signature dose of jumpscares... to the ones whose entire lives have been greatly bettered and in some other cases... changed just from a single video game franchise... Thank you, Scott.

I am once again here for the collective mourning of generation Z and their childhoods, including mine. When Scott Retired back from game development in 2021, it came as a shock to to the FNAF community knowing the mastermind of the franchise would not be making more games, and now, almost 3 years later, MatPat, the person who arguably help made FNAF popular with his theories, is stepping down from Game Theory.

8+ years. It was almost over 8 years ago that Scott gave us this amazing series. Ever since he retired we’ve all been sad that he’s gone. But we need to remember, we shouldn’t be sad because it’s over. We should be happy that we got to experience FNAF. Thank you so much, Scott. Thank you so much for sharing with us probably the best horror franchise ever made. There are other franchises that come close, but none have ever had the impact that Five Nights at Freddy’s has had. So again, thank you Scott. Wherever you are now, we hope for the best in these final years of your life. Godspeed, buddy. Godspeed.

After hearing about the new movie coming out, and all of us getting older..this music just hits different, especially since it’s name is “Don’t Go.” It feels like a bit of my childhood is almost passing on, like I’ll never be able to get it back again. Seeing the heads of the animatronics, with no light in their eyes anymore..it feels like I lost old friends that never even existed. The once bright colors of those animatronics, now in a darkly lit room, filled with memories of the past, finally able to be free again. Its a bitter-sweet ending, but oddly I wouldn’t trade it for any other childhood memory. Thank you Scott, thank you to everybody in the community that I have and haven’t met, you all gave me an escape that I couldn’t have been more thankful for. Let’s keep surviving these long nights, together.

i couldn't agree more, man it's hard to belive that we're actually getting a movie after all these years, after so many fake movie trailers i saw as a kid. i feel like i'm still processing just how far this community has come. we've all grown up with this community and despite the feeling of wanting that carefree life of being a child back, it's extremely bittersweet knowing that some of us never expected to get this far as to see an actual movie being made. we've all come a long way, and i feel like my love for Scott and this franchise will never die

I'm ten, learned about fnaf in 2018, didnt understand, enter two years, interested in undertale and dt, enter another two years, interested in springlock failures, interested in lore, enter 6 months, buy costplays, lament why i didn't find out earlier, know the lore, watch analog horror, play fangames daily, and now, i know i haven't been invested for long, but it feels like it, and i wish scott stayed, i watch old fnaf, cringe, but feel nostalga, for some reason, i feel like fnaf was and will be my interest, for a long, long time. Thank you cawthon.

I’m 15. Been here for fnaf since day 1 when I was 6. I remember how easy it was at the time. When I first saw the trailer (yes I’m that old) I loved the game. The merch, the pops, the mystery minis. Though I have all of them, it wasn’t the same feeling the joy when I first found them. I wish I could go. Back to relive that. I wish I could not be in highschool. I wish I could be in first grade like when I first found out.

I completely agree with you man, I’m in your exact same boat. Cool to know we’ve been into the fandom around the same time! Quite a small world, ain’t it? It’s helped alot makin’ friends and talking about fnaf, hell we even get so bored, we roleplay as fnaf characters, thats how much we enjoy the games and wanna relive them! Making aus, making ocs, etc. Hope you’ll have/you have people that’ll make you feel the same way I do, and if not, I’ll be a happy volunteer, nothin’ wrong with making new friends! @@Pepperoni_hotpocket

Its not the end.. Scott promised he won’t end the series, but he will replace it with another creator to move on. Scott wants us to be happy, not sad. I wasn't in denial. I just knew it was real. I'm glad he retired, instead of continuing to make games because now he can spend more time with his children. Scott was a good guy, and Fnaf will never be the same without him. At least he'll still be around a bit. Just not as much as before.

This moment legitimately is one of the greatest videogame endings out there. While doing the minigames to get the good ending, we're shown through them what life as a restless spirit is for those kids. They're trapped in an endless purgatory, reliving their worst memories, and the end of their lives over and over again. Those memories represented how far their own humanity had deteriorated over the course of thirty years. And finally, we can put them to rest. They can finally move on in peace, as the monster who did that to them is sent to hell eternally. Another thing that makes this such a good ending, is how simple it is. The lights are off and the heads are drooping. Showing how the children were finally put to rest, and that they moved on.
