With Grandpa's shrine, so the original story was Grandpa give us the farm deed to take over, so what if in alternate reality, the usual young player that we play as, is actually happy with city living, and got the deed paper from their Grandpa, but young player is not interested in moving and want to remain at city, so the player sells the land, and Walter came across it on newspaper advertising and met with the young player (that we usually play as) to buy the deed of the land and then moved to Stardew, so the Grandpa's shrine is someone else's grandpa that Walter bought land from because they are happy in city?

It can be grandpa's farm. Walter didn't take it over in his youth because he made his own way, became a miner assuming he had to make a choice. Finally, when he retired, he figured he'd head out to the country to farm only to discover a whole new adventure in his golden years. I mean, he sees Marlon and Gil and realizes being old doesn't mean his life is over. He reignited his passion for mining, learns new skills and blossoms instead of withering.

It could also be ‘great granddad’s farm’ So mom’s grandpa. Mom wasn’t able to move out to the country and sold the farm, but when walter decided to retire the previous owner decided to sell the farm again due to joja moving in. So then Walter buys back the farm and may not know or maybe heard stories from mom about ‘grandpa’s farm’.

I would recommend a fish pond over a well because they’re useful and you can use em to fill the watering can. Do a sturgeon or lava eel or catfish even

I'm with Sharky on the "bad luck is good luck" thing. I started a new playthrough to get the full 1.6 experience and a few days into spring, on a worst luck day, I found a glow ring and magnet ring in the mines.

Me too! But I find trash cans ARE better on good luck days. I hate fishing everyday so I don't notice.

I recon it’s because on ‘bad luck’ days there are more monsters and the monsters drop some pretty good loot!

I'm weighing in on this too. Cause I've played Stardew for years, and noticed the same thing. I have pretty good gaming luck in general, so maybe that balances it out. But I have found good luck days seem to matter more for a lot of other parts of the game. But for as much as the game (and wiki) try to tell you to go to the mines on good luck days, I say don't worry about it until maybe Skull Cavern. Cause for the normal mines, yeah, I do better on "bad" luck days too. And hell, if you are going to the Skull Cavern for monster drops of any kind, you want bad luck anyway, since it means more monsters. Good luck in SC is only worth it for things like treasure floors, if you are farming them. Otherwise... don't fuss about the luck, just go to the mines when it works best for you.

I did really love building a well on this farm. It also looks really cute. Any new farmers who happen to read this comment, if you turn in your spring crops bundle immediately after the egg festival, you can get 20 speed grow. That means 3 harvests from 20 strawberries.

You also have to make sure you plant the cauliflower on the first day, I normally use mixed seeds so I can use all my money on parsnips

It could be ‘great grand dad’s shrine’ where its mom’s grandpa. So its a family farm Walter reclaimed when it went back up to sale, since Mom was busy raising Walter and couldn’t move out to the valley, so she sold the property to provide for Walter, but Walter ended up wanting to move back out to the country to follow the dream of his wife and his mom told him to check out the valley, and it just so happened that the farm went back up for sale when the previous owner saw a dip in profits thanks to joja mart moving in.

"Mum" sending cookies could also be a lovely lady named Lorraine (i adore alliteration can you tell?) Who Walter met while Tallulah was undergoing treatment, Lorraine was supporting her wife Jennifer through treatment and the two couples became friends. Jennifer unfortunately passed just before Tallulah. After Tallulah passed, Lorraine became the "mum friend" to Walter, sending him cookies and knitted sweaters/scarves to help him feel a bit better. This continues after he moves to the Valley, and she is very proud of him. Still occasionally chiding and scolding him for pushing himself too far in the mines when he should be relaxing more in his older years.

Just a reminder for next episode: That when you place down your sprinklers, you can now put a torch on them to light the field so you're no longer in the dark. You won't need to do it on every single one of the basic kind, as the torches can light up the area that an iridium sprinkler can water. I've done this on my own sprinklers, and there's not a shadow in the field. 😊

you should add a few furnaces to the mine entrance so you can smelt ores while you are diving in the mines. I've added these on my farms lately and it's been a really nice touch.

The good luck in the mines on bad luck days is something i have experienced for a long time. Could never make sense of the luck system because of it.

I would suggest saving back a few strawberries when they grow. By next year you should have a seed maker and can still plant strawberries Spring 1 or when you get the greenhouse

One year I accidentally stopped Abagail during the hunt so Jas and Vincent won, it was absolutely adorable 😂❤ Maybe the next year or two, that’s what Walter can do 😂 Stop Abagail Addon: Maybe the shrine isn’t Walter’s grandpa but “Grandpa” as in the old owner of the farm, like the “Everyone’s Grandpa” type, like how Evelyn tells the farmer they can call her granny ❤

I feel like "Luck" when it comes to the mines is a bit weird, primarily because of what we, the player, often want something different each time we go. Sometimes we want no monsters so we can focus on mining, others we want lots of monsters for quests or guild rewards. Sometimes we want lots of ladders because we want to go deep, others we just want floors full of ore and don't care about ladders because we have an elevator. Like I'm not 100% sure what luck determines in the mines, but like half the time we actually don't want what "good" luck brings.

Apparently you can now put torches onto sprinklers? Might help with lighting up your farm when you get them sprinklers in :) Edit: I just tried this and can confirm you can add torches onto your sprinklers, but only if there is nothing underneath said sprinkler. So you would have to remove the wood floor bits from under your sprinklers, but i think having that additional light to see your crops at night its worth it.

Sorry to be that guy, but miners don’t live in cities because there aren’t mines in the city. But maybe he could have worked for the water department on the sewer lines? He’d still be underground a lot that way. Or the electric company?

@@EighmyLupin They pretty much never do that. Mines aren't near cities, and the expense of commuting would no make a lot of sense to a miner's family. Usually there's a small town built up around the mine to house workers.

I haven't played in like 2 years but picked it up again with 1,6 and omg the mines are so much worse. I'm down to lvl 80 and barely found 3 gemstones, and none a diamond. And there's way more monsters i think. And i've had zero weapon, ring or shoes drop. Nothing beyond the default rewards.
