In today's video, I'm gonna be talking about what I think are good level remakes. When a creator makes a level that tries to remake a level and potentially make it better, and somewhat succeeds in some or most aspects that it comes out better than the original.

I absolutely agree with the pick of Dark Odyssey, that level is an absolute peak of a warranted remake. No matter how iconic, Dark Travel was super rough around the edges, and this level did wonders to making it as amazing as it could possibly be. Nearly every part is a major improvement over the original. Jonathan absolutely knocked that level out of the park!

to me the best level remakes are the ones that take enough inspiration from the original but the creators expand on the idea enough to where it's recognized as its own level and not just a remake

I beat the level as my hardest about a year ago, and my biggest problem was that I got really really unlucky (93x2 and like 10 other deaths in the last 20%), but other than that I loved the level, no bugs at all. Also the level description says that it's not a remake of reanimation

I would put 1 more level to this list, and that's ''pixel thingie'' by tenzk which is a remake of ''Pixel Thingy'' by Hinds The level is pretty unknown, which is pretty sad because it perfectly resemembles what Pixel Thingy should have been. Old Pixel Thingy is just a bland insane demon with flat block ''design''' (idk if you even can call that a design) with white BG and some gimmicky gameplay. The last part is kinda neat tho, but it's really hard compared to the rest. pixel thingie on the other hand, has amazing decoration and expands a ton on the pixel theming with a lot of unique pixel block designs. The pulses are also 10x more interesting and it's not just 1 color at a time. The gameplay is still somewhat gimmicky but it plays 10x better than Pixel Thingy. Seriously, this level deserves more attention.

grief is not a good remake in my opinion. my main problem with grief is that in my eyes a remake has to fix issues of the original. what grief does is nerf the level(which totally lowers its funny score by 7000)put some more glow around it,and then pass it to doggie to verify as a top 1. it being a top is a good thing for an impossible level remake usually,but grief will probably take that place from TIDAL WAVE. the most unique and fun top 1 in YEARS (according to literally everyone whos played the level with the skill to beat it)is going to be dethroned by a demon using the most overused theme ever,with (from what ive seen/played and according to doggie) possibly the most unfun gameplay in years. thats enough yapping for today.

hot take: grief is one of the most generic top 1 levels we have ever gotten. AOD's edginess, slaughterhouse's hell themed and barely visible deco, tidal wave and slaughterhouse's dogshit timing-based and wave-carried gameplay, its got it all.

I think a factor is whether the level was worth remaking in the first place. This is why I don't like levels like Deimos and Grief. It feels like they only remade such terrible levels because they're popular.

i think deimos is fine because unnerfed phobos was too hard to get rated old slaughterhouse hasn't been popular for years, it's made by the creator, and icedcave wanted to do the level actual justice

i think in the next part you should include sonic wave unlimited, its the sonic wave remake most unpopular but i think its the best one, its so well decorated and also adds some extra things like the talking smiley face and his lines changes, sometimes he jumpscares you and if you go the coin route it also changes. I just think its really good and no one talks about it
