Limited availability helps create an aura, a sense of rarity and magic around the physical instantiation of those frozen sounds. It generates a certain kind of localization and, as a result, a kind of textured distribution and dissemination of the music. We live in an age where it is expected that anything worthwhile should be readily available, but there's something to gained from carefully planing distribution and growth rather than always bowing to the demands of the 'consumer'.
