And players on top of that needs to understand that the ''positive'' SIGMA is what we notice when in the honeymoon period i.e when the tank is on sale or a prize for a marathon event or worst in lootboxes. I have the fresh memory of the Iron Arnie (and so much more) when it came out: very accurate 90% of the time, people where playing it alot. Now I can barely hit from a mid distance, is meh at best and nobody plays it anymore. Next!

In the training room stats are not impacted by account balancing algorithms. In random battles RNG and sigma are controlled by win ratio balancing algorithms to make the game more forgiving for new players and less boring/more challenging for old players, as WG patent 330 says.

when I started playing (2013), there were 4 tanks I Really wanted: Tiger, Tiger 2, Sherman, & Patton. Each was a disappointment when I finally got them. The last few years before I quit (2019), my favorite tank, by far, was the t-50-2. Had more fun in it than in any other. Bounced more shells off the Back of that turret than the front of any other I had.

I recently bought an SU 152, fully trained 6 perk crew and it aims like a legless drunk trying to find the handle on a taxi door. At long range it's a horrible sniper, at mid-range it's almost worth the 4 to 1 accuracy lottery; (4 drunk butterfly shells per 1 on the bullseye), but still frustrating to play.

Correct, WG has algo that skews results of battles to increase odd that 1 team wins. This is done by making their Sigma worse. This means they are more likely to: Roll lower on damage, pen, and accuracy (shots fly towards outer part of aim circle more often). Together, these all stack up to having a major effect. WG also has another BS algo they run, each tank gets given a chance that they are left with 1-5hp instead of being killed by a shot that avg damage will be enough to kill them. It forces a low-dmg roll. Now this chance is super super small, but WG can increase for the team that the algo wants to win. The other hidden stat is gear ratios for each tank. This is completely hidden. Tank speed is combination of engine power/ton, terrain resistances, modified by gear ratios. Prime example, SU130PM vs Skorpion G, on paper, the SU130PM should be the faster tank, but its not, its quite a bit slower. It has crap gear ratios.

Hey Claus - Looks like you're feeling better today; good show. Good Sigma every time. I don't believe KZbin allows the insertion of links so I'll simply say the source is called "MIT News" and the article is called "Explained: Sigma" (good overall explanation of standard deviation/sigma). An initial paragraph says: "The unit of measurement usually given when talking about statistical significance is the standard deviation, expressed with the lowercase Greek letter sigma (σ). The term refers to the amount of variability in a given set of data: whether the data points [for us it's where shots hit vs where ained] are all clustered together, or very spread out." I did competitive target shooting as a teenager and the gold standard of any shooter is a tight group, i.e. all the shots into the smallest circle possible - meaning little dispersion/good sigma.

There is a reason my Carnavan is still in my garage and not the Tiger II. Leop PTA, Leop I both have God like sigma. The Conqueror and S. Conqueror both have great Sigma. I used the credits for the Tiger II for more Gold ammo! Like a MOFO!

Does RNG get better for players who's teams are winning? That's my concern. It might be a doctrine in the design of the game intended to shorten the length of the game or it might be a perception as the number of players in the game shrink. I can not think of a way to test my hypothesis in game life though. Thanks Claus.

Re the Tiger game, I find it sad that the actual tanks, i.e. the vehicles that were actually built even if just as a prototype, have been rendered insignificant by the new, fantasy tanks... And re Sigma - the poor Tortoise has, IMO, just had it's Sigma and pen rolls secretly nerfed...

I cant stand WG trolling me all day every day... I only have tanks that make me comfortable, I prefer to play less tanks and be fine with the game, than to collect 100s of shitty bastards... I want to think there is 3 categories of tanks in the game: Bad tanks, with bad stats, old machines with no updates, etc. Decent tanks, machines good enough to play vs competitive premiums or 1 tier up, and where the player can make a difference. And OP tanks, the more trollish of all. A new premium has some weeks of magic to help selling, some machines maintain the charm (progetto, bourrasque, Bz...) but lots of premiums fall in "decent" or "bad" in 1 or 2 weeks, the gun start to fail, the armor is not so good, all your games are versus higher tiers, all your teams are barely humans...

Each gun has a "impulse" hidden stat, this is from 2011 forums. It determines how often shots fly center, ie. real accuracy. This stat is not shown anywhere. In World of Warships, it is called sigma.

I have noticed that these battles were fought much slower than todays usual battles so they had time to go to a good position and sit and wait for the muppets. But most battles nowdays are over in a couple of minutes so you never get to a position to be able to set your defence

I'm curious what the sigma function on the SU-130 PM looks like. It can be really accurate at times, but it seems like any shot that doesn't hit in or right next to the bullseye ends up at the very edge of the aim circle. Very few shots go to middle area between the bullseye and outer edge.

With 10-20 shots, the statistical error is 22.3-31.6% (1 over sqrt(N)), so I would probably conduct a larger-scale study on it. I wonder if anyone's ever properly measured the spread of shots for different tanks, like with mods dumping the precise values to a dataset? That'd be interesting to see.

M5a1 stuart have crazy good sigma. You have big circle in move but you can hitting enemy in full speed in mid and long distance without problem. If i stop and aiming I always shoot one unaimed shoot. Its 80% hit on big distance and that circle is so big. Lol.

This is the think that drives me nuts about WoT for 12 years. You can’t “git gud” or “carry harder” because all the hidden stats of the game are constantly working against you at various rates. The lack of control over my own performance drives me nuts. You can’t tell me that some players don’t get some sorry of algorithmic bump in their game. I’ve seen so much bs that I am just done.

Considering Sigma is a value WG uses for Warships and even publishes (albeit not in the application itself...) it's fairly obvious it exists in tanks as well. As you say they even changed the Sigma function "globally" a number of years back so that more shots would congregate towards the bullseye. Why they can't publish the individual stats is beyond me. As well as the soft stats which should be visible in the garage.

Dang dude. I'd prefer the Caernarvon over the higher alpha especially after seeing it hit and kill the VK on the move and so far away. I have mostly American tanks and none do that. That was a hell of a shot. And thanks for doing a video a day as I watch one every day while eating breakfast. Scratching my head wondering why you only have 94k subs, tho. Wish you had more since you do good videos and not fluff for WG like others, even skill seems to promote the crap tanks like the new double barrel American tank after saying it suk'd, went back and changed his review of it probably because WG asked him to. Off topic here. Claus would you be doing anymore "This map is broken"? Attack defend map in the 1st battle, the HT defending has all the advantage against the attacking HT on B1/2 and C1/2 positions. Defenders are more likely to win, or am i wrong?

It looks like the caenarvon is using the "real reticule" mod which is a legal mod that's why it's that smol. I've had some really good games sigma wise with that tank but it also tends to shoot the dirt fully aimed.

i prefer the nerf cannons, I can reuse the darts vs the marshmallow cannons which really one shot and the marshmallow is used up, they both bounce nicely tho. now the one advantage to marshmallow is they get stale, and then harden thus allowing a few penetrations if you haven't played the tank in a while and have automatic resupply checked. there is of course the opportunity always to load the premium round AKA the rubber bullet.. definitely harder than the stale marshmallow and way more accurate than the nerf dart, ya good thing its not real money eh! pnly pixel currency to arm and destroy pixel tanks and earn pixel medals... cheers all.

Sigma also seems to depend on the day you are playing. One day god-like the next couple of days, trolled on every shot. Coincidence? I think NOT! Probably something to do with their patent on matchmaking Claus has mentioned, just another component of how they rig things.

The RNG in this game makes no sense. For one.... We PAY for the ammo. So to have WG waste our shots, like they did with the Tiger 2, it's a slap in the face. The worst thing is: Sigma on Tiger 2 is one of the better ones. There are far worse. Looking at those Centurions in my garage. Of course its also depending on those RNG templates. WG admitted that they ( are too lazy 🤮) wanted to reduce server load and therefore use premade templates for RNG throws. If you got a bad template for the battle, you must be a super uniscum to get a decent result..... otherwise you are F...ed

SU100 is almost unplayable now - 3 out of 4 games, can't hit a damn thing - miss over 50%, with either gun, prem or AP, doesn't matter. For a while, the 100 mm gun was quite accurate, last few months - crap. I used to love playing that tank. Not any more.

And i remember a Video from WG quite some years ago. Where they showed how they gonna change the spread. They changed it twice. First there whas a bigger spread radius , then they made it smaller. But, oh wonder, they didnt like it so they made the radius bigger again. And somehow, i feel like the forgott to change that one russian tanks ^^ but maybe its just me. I mean how comes my su152 is more accurate and bullseye then my Grille15 🤔
