One of the best things about working on bikes is the people you meet and especially those you get to call "Friends". Taking the time, to spend the day together, is far more important than the money. I remember when belts first came out I thought I'd try one on my 73 shovelhead.. I don't know if it's when it first came out but.. at least I remember that the S&S carburetors at the time didn't have an accelerator pump and I thought I'd try one of those.. it lasted about 2 weeks before I broke that belt... You're probably making a better now.. went back to a chain and never look back
