Goodbye Camper, Hello Caravan | Pt 6 - It's Licensed!

This is the final video in this series of Goodbye Camper, Hello Caravan. The caravan is now licensed and I'll also give you a quick rundown on the work that I did to it, to get to this point.
There are still a couple of things left to do, like installing the solar panels on the roof of the van, along with installing the grey water tank to catch the sink waste.
Watch to the very end and see what happened with I took it out on its maiden prospecting trip!

Hi Rusty, I discovered your channel yesterday and watched the entire 'Goodbye Camper, Hello Caravan' series in one sitting. I have to compliment you on your work. Speaking as an engineer, I am very impressed by your thoughtful and methodical approach, the quality of your workmanship in all respects - especially your welding, and the production of your videos in all respects. I love the caravan that you have created and its wonderful to see this 1980s 'van given a 'new lease on life', or better, a new incarnation with all the impressive upgrades. I especially like the electrical system and suspension system. If only the original constructors could see what you have achieved! And with a 1200kg Tare, and 2000kg ATM its almost perfect (just needs an external HW system for a shower). If only one could buy a new van made to these specifications and weights! It's also great that you also live in WA. So, huge respect and admiration for your work. And I have to add, I'm rather envious of your workshop!😁 Looking forward to watching more videos!

Hi Steve, thankyou for your kind words, they're very much appreciated. I enjoyed working on the caravan upgrade and yes, it has given the van a new lease on life. A hot shower while out prospecting is definitely something to savour. My shed as grown bigger over the years, as you can never have too big of a shed!

Hi David, the van cost $4.500 and I spent another $10,000...this included the following: the suspension components, wheels, tyres, etc. The electrical system with its 200Ah lithium battery, DCDC charger, 1200W inverter, roof mounted solar panels (not yet installed), assorted wiring components, etc. New water tank, grey water tank (not yet fitted), new gas struts for the roof; gas installer to update the gas regulator and sign off. Then there was the inspection, weighbridge certificate and licensing....I've probably missed some items, but you can see how it adds up!!

Hi Darren, the Navara is going really well. Between 5000km oil changes I noticed the level was down a bit, so that's something to keep an eye on.

Hi Rusty getting the tare weight was reasonably straight forward with the way station BUT to get the Agrigate weight you said it’s was certified .... who does the certification to say that the van won’t bend; buckle, or break as long as it doesn’t exceed 1999 kgs

Hi John, in order to upgrade the ATM, I needed a 'brake capacity certificate', which was supplied by the trailer parts shop. It lists all the braking and suspension components used to increase the van's carrying capacity.

When it was inspected for registration, it was looked at by the inspector, but that's all. It may have been certified when the longer draw bar was fitted....how it is, is how I bought it.

I've got the Navara, which is has taken me a while to get it to where it is today. The van compliments that, especially when I go prospecting.
