Another incredible script from you! The clone stamp tool is ancient and deserved a good refresh. I tested it, and it works very well; however, I noticed that it produces a darker circular area instead of the defect. When we replace the stars, this usually poses no problem, unless they have been greatly reduced, which can produce a slight "dark ringing" effect. A possible solution might be to have the opportunity to add an "offset" to this central circle. Once again, congratulations on all your hard work!

Something that I think people have been waiting for in PI for a long time as clone stamp really is awful. Your script is more a kin to what can be done in photoshop so having this in PI means not having to create tif files and moving into photoshop to use the healing tools. Also we can use your script in the linear state which is excellent. Fantastic job.

Just tried it and will be using it a lot in the future! Thanks! My only request is that the preview autoSTF not be quite as 'smooth'. It makes some of what I was trying to correct, and the results of the correction, more difficult to see.
@setiv24 ай бұрын
I cant change much on that STF issue. The stretch needs to be fully reversable and if it is too hard it will clip your data which I cant imagine you want to do. I would say, and hear me out, dont remove your artifacts now until after you stretch. With clone stamp that was a bad idea but not anymore!

Another issue I get is when I use my Quadband or Tri filters and end up with large star halos on the bright stars. I have tried to remove them with the clone stamp but never achieve a good result. Thank you for this tool - I have used Clone Stamp however, for all the reasons stated in both PI docs and other non-PI articles, I would prefer a better tool to remove blemishes - large an small. My question/comment is around how this script could ease the battle with sat track removal. Like many, I spend an inordinate amount of time trying to get rid of these pesky transgressionary lines which StarLink orbiting tech (among others) has perpetrated upon imagers… and others. Can this tool be effective in removing the sat tracks in a single attempt or will on have to select the blemish area in circles (all along the track)? Again, thanks for this super useful tool, Franklin…. and CS!
@setiv24 ай бұрын
There is no way for this currently to remove a long line defect like a satellite trail without making a ton of small overlapping circles. Maybe a future version to remove stuff like that
@swnovanovice4 ай бұрын
@@setiv2 appreciate all your efforts to make life in the PI world a tad less complex; I’ll wait for the”future version”, Franklin, and keep the more difficult removal process until then. Thank you again for the tools already bestowed… cheers, b

@setiv22 ай бұрын
You are trying to remove a blemish from your flat? I have to ask why, doesnt that blemish need to be calibrated om your associated light frame? Also a flat should be bright enough not to have to use STF. What is the median value of the flat?
@Orionshield19482 ай бұрын
@@setiv2 Not really, it is actually imprinting something that does not exist into the lights. In that regard I wish the tool would actually allow a manual STF if needed which probably is not often.

Hi Franklin. PI does not want to open your newest script Blemish Blaster. I saw it being downloaded into the script folder yesterday and today when I wanted to test it out, first it was not in the folder anymore and secondly after finding it under the "Check Script Syntax" and trying to run it, PI returns an error and warning: run --execute-mode=auto -c "C:/Program Files/PixInsight/src/scripts/BlemishBlaster.js" Processing script file: C:/Program Files/PixInsight/src/scripts/BlemishBlaster.js *** Error: File I/O Error: Unable to open file: Win32 error (225): Operation did not complete successfully because the file contains a : C:/Program Files/PixInsight/src/scripts/BlemishBlaster.js virus or potentially unwanted software.
