I've got mad respect for all you mamas out there juggling so many different things. I'm 34, single, and I don't want children. There are a number of reasons for my decision (I work in emergency & disaster management) but part of the reason I don't want children is because of the unfair burden it places on women, particularly in American society. Women are expected to do it all - to be partners, mothers, professionals, sexual beings, etc. and it's so easy to lose yourself in the process. Thank you for sharing this publicly. I think it's time we start having this discussion more often.

My first reaction to this video was judgement, but then I realized that it was just jealousy--your freedom to be a stay at home mom, to set your own schedule, and then to leave what's no longer professionally or personally fulfilling without shame. What I wish is that every parent had that choice, but more importantly, I celebrate you for making yours.

I have been watching you for at least three years and I love your content. I am a clinical psychologist specializing in perinatal women's mental health. If you came into my office and told me your story I would see that your list of symptoms meet criteria for postpartum depression. Please understand that we adore you and appreciate your style, personally, and vision, but I would feel badly if I did not point out that you sound depressed, and that treatment works. I love your attention to detail, and non-conformity with the bad quality of fast fashion. You are a great interior decorator and I looked forward to seeing your work with flowers. I follow you on Instagram, and will continue to support you there, but I would be uncaring to not point out that your transition to motherhood has been intersected with a hormonal depression that exhibits itself in being overwhelmed, frustrated and sad. Depression at this time is very common, and extremely treatable. Please consider seeing a psychologist that specializes in postpartum care for a simple evaluation. Life is too short to not feel your best.

However I don't think it's the place to give someone a diagnosis via the internet in a public comment. It was very much directed at a single person not regarding post natal depression as a whole. Call me old fashioned but I certainly wouldn't appreciate that kind of comment without them contacting me about it first. I'm not after an argument but simply wanted to point out that there might be a better way for a clinicial psychology to reach out privately before be so public.

Although I agree that it’s a bit shocking to read this comment, I do think it’s for the best that it was posted. I had post partum depression 10 years ago and just thought I was ‘not coping’. Life with a new baby doesn’t have to feel like that, I realise now. I too have worried about Erica in her recent videos. It’s important to have open discussions about post partum mental health, it can only benefit everyone. Hoping you start to feel less overwhelmed soon Erica, I so relate to everything you said - reminds me so much of myself in the early days of motherhood. X

I saw a noticeable shift in your content when you left San Francisco and definitely after you had Monty. Its good you acknowledge what you have to let go to feel more sane. It seems like clothing designing is a lot more stress and time consuming than KZbin, but if you are happy about it maybe you wont feel stressed about it. ??? Sifted Clothing is a young brand, but she is not a young mother. Parenting is a shift and a change in season, and sometimes life takes you in new direction because they dictate and have complete control over your life, its true. Having children is a commitment and a sacrifice, everything else takes a back seat. You have darling style and excellent taste, and it will be exciting to see what you come up with! Best wishes for you and most importantly to you as an individual, and Monty's mommy and Jason's wifey... those things all come first. You can produce clothing whenever, but he'll only need you this much for a short time. Big hugs

Yes, there have been a lot of life changes for our family in the past several months, and it has definitely changed how I felt about doing youtube too. I think there will be some hard work with designing, but I will have some great partners in production to help out. Mostly, I'm really glad to be able to spend lots of time at home with Jason and Monty! Sending hugs and good wishes to you too!

I ran my own little retail/wholesale business raising my child with the help of my mom babysitting. I believe social media brings on more added pressure with expectations which I didn't have raising my child. I'm happy you made the best choice for your family. I am so sad to hear this news! Even my 5-year-old son enjoys your content for whatever reason haha. You will be dearly missed, as I do not use IG. However, I am a stay-at-home mom of 2, so I completely understand the stress and honestly don't know how moms handle work on top of parenting/managing the household. We made the decision within 1 day of me returning to work after maternity leave that I should stay home. You will never regret prioritizing family over money/work! It makes sense, friend. I know how hard it is to carve out time to even go thrifting with young kids, let alone filming it and talking through it and then editing it, etc. 😓 Plus, that thing that people always say about not being able to get these early years back is probably true.
