To answer your question @36:13 anytime a sitcom needs to surprise its audience, they can drop a black screen down in front of the set so the audience cannot see in before filming begins. So I would assume that is what happened in regards to that big reveal with Chandler and Monica.

On a sitcom set, when there is a major reveal they want to preserve for the authenticity in capturing the studio audiences genuine spontaneous reaction, they will use the industry tired and true method of bringing in a set wide black drop sheet to drape in front of the audience. This shields from the audience seeing the set set up for the next scene and also the technicians and actors to move about more freely and not so self consciously. A lot of sitcoms will incorporate this technique in normal non reveal set ups just because actors like the comfort of not being 100% 'on.' It's commonly known that the Chandler-Monica reveal in bed was a secret perfectly preserved and the studio audience was completely taken by surprise. Hence, the genuine long substaiined applause and everyone losing their minds. They knew they had just witnessed something special and also had to keep quiet about it till air date which I believe was three weeks lag time. Also, the warm up hype guy who entertained the audience in-between takes of shooting the episode did a masteful job of smoke and mirrors and misdirect by telling the crowd to keep their eyes on Ross for the big surprise so they wouldn't be suspicious to look at the bed for any clues Monica was underneath the sheets. A big reveal which they never brought up is they shot this episode twice before two different studio audiences the same night. This is industry standard for every sitcom taped before a Live studio audience. Every sitcom banks two different tapings and then in Post edits between the two the best reactions. So, that iconic bed moment reveal happened twice and both reactions went through the roof. There is a 'tell' in the footage from this night on the Reunion if you look at Matthew Perry's hair. They play the footage of he and Cox springing up from the bed a couple of times and it is clear they are two entirely seperate taping. And Friends is notorious for not juicing up the laugh track in Post, ever. The sound mixers laugh at this notion because jokingly they said that would take too much work and the funniest truth is stranger than fiction. Simply, audiences are weird sometimes and laugh at inappropriate times because they are so primed and pumped to laugh at anything that it will cause nervous laughter at parts without a joke. And for people that find studio audiences ghastly like this channel and view them mockingly, its the best thing for an actor performatively as they get the instant feedback and it energizes them as performers. It also lets the writers know instantly if a joke isnt working and to do a joke rewrite on the spot if it bombs bad enough. You only know that before a Live taping. Friends didn't and never did use a laugh track. Big difference between the two. Friends creators kept it honest and real.

You mentioned was Courteney Cox well known first before the others - yes, she got a big break when she was the girl brought up on stage in a Bruce Springsteen music video "Dancing in the Dark" in 1984. I'm same age as her, we were 19/20 that year, I was in my early college days, and that video was very popular when it came out (our college marching band even played a version of that song for a football halftime show). She got noticed from that, so when Friends was cast, she was really the only actor already known by most people.

Watch "Episodes." LeBlanc is GREAT in it playing a fictionalized version of himself. And Tamsin Grieg and Stephen Mangan were a revelation. Oh, and James Corden lessened the appeal of this reunion for me and a lot of people. When I saw his rip-off and always awkward version of Graham Norton's format, I loathed him from the get-go. (I admit to watching and enjoying Carpool Karaoke videos, but I always wondered if he lifted that from someone else as well.)
