Picking up unexploded fireworks on January 2nd... they were everywhere on every street. Some of them the cloth-fuse stopped burning at the edge of the firecracker. You pull it out a little bit and try to light it. But because that part of the fuse was compressed, instead of a slow steady burn - the fuse just explodes and detonates the firecracker so it was important that you either use a stick to light it - or fray the fuse a little bit so you just get a small ember.

Thank you for choosing the (slowly dying) fireworks manufacturing industry of the Philippines as your first documentary on Full Stack Films. According to CNN Philippines- As of 2 p.m. Saturday, the total number of firecracker-related incidents at JRMMC (Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center) was at 104. Out of these, four were due to stray bullets. But among the victims, it was Jerry Flores who suffered worst as his leg was amputated. "He was drunk. It didn't explode (Goodbye Philippines) so he stepped on it," said Dr. Paul Villegas. "We have to amputate the lower extremity on the left lower." Unlike other countries, it is not illegal to use fireworks and firecrackers here in the Philippines. And every year the number of injuries are proof that our country needs a stricter policy on manufacturing, selling and buying fireworks. Thank you Josh for letting me be a part of this.

I found this quite fascinating! I myself a Filipino, but born in England have experienced firecrackers when we went on holiday to my mothers old house in the Phillipines. I was in Landasan in North Cotabato when I came across to Muslim children selling 500 pieces of firecrackers to young children! But I have to say that I am grateful for having most of my family living in Davao City which is the most safest and secure city in the Philippines.

As a 15 y/o, i have plenty of knowledge of handling a firecracker with care, for mostly i tend to see drunk adults get involved as it says in the video, in which i want to warn them to safely not to put on their hand so that they dont go through accidents. I'm still using firecrackers to this day, and yet more and more i knew how to handle it. Be safe out there guys and advance happy new year🎉❤

Aerial fireworks are expensive to make, which majority of backyard fireworks/firecrackers don't have the adequate capital. Lacking technical skills also hampers fireworks productions.

This made me very home sick :( We have these firecrackers called piccolo and me and my cousins would put them inside coconuts and they’d explode like grenades😂 and sometimes we’d bury them in the sand and the sand would explode into the sky.
