As much as I don't like Scofield, I can understand what it was like to have total access to the WHOLE of the BBC. I joined in May 1973, and with my BBC ID went so many places. It was a great time to work for the Beeb, and to be part of what was a great organisation.

As an American college student who has never been to England nor worked at TVC, this and Tales of Television Centre are two documentaries that after watching make you genuinely cry a little. It seems utterly crazy how the BBC aired these two shows in which they gave high praise to their building, then they turn around and tear it all down. An act of architectural and cultural decimation!!!

May I say , "Thank you". I am 45. I grew up with Saturday Swap Shop. I loved watching Miss Shirley Bassey's specials with my nana. Nobody can take these memories from us.

Watching the 'second set' of celebrities on the sofa.... Brucie, Ronnie, Terry & Noel, I felt very sad that three of them have now passed. My Great TV memories were all made in that building.

Television Centre would be forever missed it's where on one it's programs like The Two Ronnies, The Goodies, Top of the Pops, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Old Grey Whistle Test, The Good Life, Fawlty Towers, Parkinson's, Wogan, Blue Peter, Pebble Mill at One, Jim'll Fix It, Breakfast Time, The Late, Late Breakfast Show, Doctor Who, The Kenny Everett Television Show, Strictly Come Dancing, Not the Nine O'Clock News, Des O'Connor Tonight and other big names, as well as their newscasts. though Televsion Centre has been the treasure of Great British entertainment. as Television Centre has been closed already (RIP 1960-2013) though much of their programs nowadays are being done at the New Broadcasting House.

A two hour programme broadcast on the BBC.... about how the BBC was making a terrible, terrible decision closing TVC. And it was, and is, a terrible decision.

Used to work here. This show even at the time was like watching the BBC punch themselves in the face. Everything really has gone to pot since they shut the place.

They were told by consultants that they would have tens of millions of pounds left over even after building and moving production to Bush house and Salford. The reality is that it cost tens of millions and the consultants I assume all bought new yachts.

Outdated old studios, not the current ones that are Grade II listed at TVC, the need to modernise the studios, hence the 10 years in the planning and building on W1A in 2013, once sold - that it, always nice look back with rose-tinted glasses, was really time to move on.
