that flute on Mynot is amazing
@digitalfreak2008 жыл бұрын
I thought I knew what post rock was. I usually read with it on, or run because it has this slight intensity that is still beautiful. But these guys....holy crap. These guys just took it to another level. They took post-rock and layered it with gold. Beautiful melodies strung out over the most motivating of drum beats. Music with an eerie spirit that keeps you curious, but it rewards as you listen. And just when I am convinced that I need to have this album, that the purchase of this is the solution to the math that is my life- they slap my in the face with a flute played by the gods themselves. They didn't just include some cute little tune by a flute, no. They fucking annihilated every 4th grader in America with a recorder. They took the flute, and turned it into something I can't even begin to explain. This goddam flute melody could summon fucking dragons and eradicate all evil with flames. This flute could give snorlax goddam insomnia. Not to fucking mention that "Tywin Lannister" in the comments below is the one who pointed the flute out originally, a freaking dead man can hear this shit. I mean, holy shit, talk about the birth of a legend. Buy that flute player a hot dog and a coke and get this comment tattooed on their throat. Best music I've heard since 1996, I'll tell ya.

I don't mean to be rude about the creators of this album but I really feel like there's a problem with a lack of diversity between post rock bands at the moment. You hear the a lot of the same sounds, song structures, tempos etc. and it's becoming a little uninspiring. One of the things that attracted me to this kind of music in the first place was that it broke through a lot of the traditional musical boundaries. Now there are few sounds I could hear from a post rock band and recognize as a style distinct from any other. Admittedly I haven't finished listening to this album yet. I may well come back later and edit this post if my opinion changes.

I agree. There are a few bands that do stand out, but there are many that are very indistinguishable.

Which bands stand out for you at the moment?
@ThatOneSarcasticGuy8 жыл бұрын
Try Wang Wen. I was beginning to agree with you for a while there - lot of this genre sounds a bit similar - but they've got a pretty unique style, and they're talented musicians.

Worldhaspostrock has an album by 'em. Honestly, this channel has a loooot of good, unique post-rock bands, but some are more miss than hit. Just gotta test 'em out.
