Wow, what a powerful voice that Chase from Foxes and Fossils has. I love all of their videos no matter which of the five vocalist happens to be taking the lead, but when I had the chance to see and hear them live in concert back in December of 2022, it was just a whole other level. Such an amazing group. And they are coming out with a new video Thursday night, 4/4/24. I've already heard it and at 70 years old, this new song brings me back to the years of my youth. Can't wait for you to hear it!!! Loved your reaction.

How did this one slip past me?! The ladies all have wonderful voices but this one REALLY showcases Chase's terrific range. Some serious pipes on that young lady!!

I had heard this version before. It's very intense. This girl's voice is powerful.

Wow! Great reaction to a timeless classic of Elton John... I love it more with your story of the piano salesman / artist that played for you. Thank You so much!😁❤❤❤

What an amazing version! ❤️ Props to the arranger.

Jeff- this is excellent. It IS however inspired by the “ultimate cover” of this of all time - by Sara Bareilles. She invented the arrangement on which this is based. It’s just Sara and her piano live. You will get chills and weep. Elton said , “ The song is now Sara’s”. ❤😊

That was just plain cool and totally enjoyable....elegantly simple.

What a great cover of a cover! You know I love Sara’s version… Holy cow, Adam was amazing! I can’t wait to get that piano on the stage in my theater 😍🥹🤤 That PBS special actually starts in 15 minutes!

Like you, I realized how incredible this group was almost instantly. There is not a weak link in the entire group. I hope you hear some of their other performances; there are some even better ones in my opinion. Take care

Outro was great! Friend of mine here in Tally went to the local Steinway dealer and escorted Marcus Roberts with him to try out a baby grand. Salesman almost fell on the floor when this little blind student from FSU sat down to try the piano🤣🤣. Look forward to tired next video!!

Sara Bareilles does a very notable and fantastic cover of this song. The best, IMHO, is the live version on "American Voices" kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3LXmmuAg9J9n5o

I have to say I hate this arrangement by Sara Bareilles. A major portion of the enjoyment of listening to Elton John's music is listening to the piano, and this arrangement murders that. That said, Chase brilliantly showcases the depth, quality, and versatility of her voice on this one. In my opinion, Tim also improved on Sara's arrangement. In the end I think this song really showcases the talent this group has when you can listen to it and say "yeah, that was really well done!" Someone Saved My Life Tonight is also one of my favorites although Funeral For a Friend probably makes the top of my list. I love when you bring personal stories like that into these videos.

So an almost exact copy of the cover by Sara Bareilles?

EJ, Have no fear. They weren't even close. I can't put my finger on exactly WHY, but this group just didn't grab me. WHile the vocals were good, they weren't what this song needs. Good reaction!

Have you heard Sara Bareilles do this? I'm wondering if you just don't like the arrangement. Of course, if you like Sara on this then that would not be the case!
@tomjes56025 ай бұрын
Maybe it’s because they are able to sing clearly so you can understand the words.

@@rgoers Okay! I just listened to three different versions from her.... 2 live and one studio. I'm not a fan of the altered opening dissonant chords repeating again and again and again. Other than THAT... I DO like her voice... a LOT. Haunting, yet clear. Not too much melisma. Liked her a whole bunch! Thanks for the suggestion!
@rgoers5 ай бұрын
@@AudioVile You are welcome. I like Sara's voice too. But I will take Elton John's version any day. Maybe that is because I grew up to it. I love what Chase does with this song as well but that still doesn't make me like the arrangement.
@AudioVile5 ай бұрын
@@tomjes5602 Good thought, but I don't think so. While her voice is really nice, I just don't think it was well-suited for this particular song. I DO really like that belt she pulls starting at 3:25 (in this video). But her choices for emphasis and her dynamics just don't "ring my bell." Also, I don't care for the dissonant intro chords in the Sara Bareilles version. I'm going to check her out with other performances. Thanks for the comment!
