Never had a problem with the original version, but now since I've listened to this.. I can't go back to the original. The bass, the synths, the guitar harmonies... They just sound so much better. 1. I love the fuck out of contortionist and I loved their musical evolution all the way up to current albums. They're kind of revisiting their old sound with a blend of their new style but with a lot of bands out there now like the faceless and their album ghosts. I'd say it's debatable. 2. If not #1 definitely should be in everyone's top 10 for sure. 3. For me at least, that's hard to choose.

@Dustin Rogers I love Common Man's Collapse and I'm glad other people appreciate it as well, however Exoplanet is more monumental in what it accomplishes by blending so many traits and doing it perfectly into one album. Exoplanet has no bad tracks, Common Man's Collapse has a few tracks that are not up to par with the rest of the album; in fact they just copied a few tracks from All Things Set Aside and put it onto Common Man's Collapse.
@xxBornOfChoasxx
@xxBornOfChoasxx 6 жыл бұрын
@Dustin Rogers I mean all of the albums you listed were good, if not elite, no doubt; however when it comes to the peak and the best instrumentation and lyrics(I mean seriously if you haven't yet looked at Jonathan's lyrics for this album you need to, it is a concept album and this is another reason why people say this album is the best ever) this album stands on an island. This band was the first to really make deathcore progressive, if you look at The Contortionist now they are one of the best progressive acts in the game and thus have attracted a whole new audience of fans, which speaks to how sublime their instrumentation is. However this is another reason why people more into deathcore/metalcore don't really like this album because it switches up time signatures a lot(this is why it is progressive deathcore).

To this day, no metal album has been able to top this for me. The discovery of this band/album was just a "right place, right time" kind of thing for me. It has all the things I love about the genre. It saddened me when the band "evolved" to the more progressive, softer style they have now. Also I think the new singer is a dick but whatever. Exoplanet will, in my opinion, remain as the pinnacle of "Djent/Death"-core and even metal all around.

sacredgeometry has a point. It’s not worth them re-redoing the album, but it bothered me, too. But I guess only if they could switch the guitar tones and hands fast enough to play it so that it sounds like that, it wouldn’t be as much a big deal to me. You can do some fast hand repositioning, but towards a certain point there will be string scrape hiss if they have to move horizontally to play it. I don’t feel like figuring out how to play that part so I guess I won’t know for sure. Still sounds a little odd how it changes that fast.

I prefer this to the original. The original wasn't bad but a little too raw sounding. Intrinsic is the one that REALLY needs re mixed and mastered!!! Intrinsic is my favorite contortionist record but the mix is fucked

I remember listening to the song "Flourish". Soujds better remastered. I guess I'll listen to the whole album since I'm here.

2:26 - The tight ghost-blast notes from the original version have faded from this plane of existence :( This version is just missing the punch of the first release. With the upped bass and synth everything is just muddier. At 7:50 it doesn't so much drive anymore as it does float listlessly along. Oh well - I still have the original version. Not gonna say this is the "wrong" version or you're wrong for liking this one instead of the first one. Take your pick and rock out!

Really like what they did with the guitars, synth, and some of the vocals but the drums seems a lot less powerful in this mix. It might just be me. But what do I know I'm just some kid on the Internet.

I love this album, but I feel like the guitars in the remaster are too bassy- whenever I listen to it on a decent audio setup I've gotta go turn down the bass in software.

For some reason, I feel like everyone that disliked the mix on intrinsic probably didnt buy the album. I love the mix on intrinsic and I bought it digitally - if you torrented or stream these albums you got no room. I bet one reason this remastered version sounds overly compressed and pumpy is because of youtube's bullshit sound compression
