Retevis RT5 Review: Does it Really Do 8 Watts Out?

My RT5 is very powerful. Don't need bigger antenna. Hits my 2 repeaters easily from inside house. I do have Signal Stick antenna, and it fits easily onto RT5, and works just fine. Love my three RT5s!

@@articalslicefatty1095 My 3 RT5 put out 7.5 watts UHF AND 7.6 WATTS VHF. I have no idea where my 2 repeaters are located, so can't answer that. One. GMRS ch. On map is 70 miles away. But I don't think it can do 70 miles but can't find any OTHER GMRS CHANNEL on map with GMRS GMRS CHANNEL 26

A Signal Stick antenna ought to fit on there. The plastic housing on a Signal Stick is pretty narrow. And it's a great antenna!

Blinded by the Feng! Now we all know what a video camera having an aneurysm looks like. Might be a good radio to hook up to an external antenna to avoid drying out your eyeballs. Thanks Steve!

You can use a adapter, that you can sanding down the outside part and than put the other antenna with no problems on it.

My rt5r radio incoming from main base station too slow. If i near the base incoming the best.

I had brought a pair of Retevis RT3S GPS DMR radios a few yrs ago. I had problems with the PC software and it would not run correctly on any of my 4 PCs running Windows 10. a friend I sold it to use a Mac and it worked but the PC software. they refused to take it back I had sent it out to China with the address they gave me. It showed it got on a boat to China but they never got it, I put a claim in with the post office I got my money back less the $23 for shipping. So looking ahead 8 months later I get a package in the mail. It's the radio with China customs tape saying it was refused and sent back. I never brought another radio from them their tec support sucks.

I didn't know they had any tech support. haha... that is why everyone makes videos on how to program them. I don't love these things, but the fact is, they are a cost effective way for me to put a radio into a kid's hands as soon as he/she has a callsign. Thanks for watching!
