Mate... this is my third video of yours. Best visual feel breakthrough I've had in years. I'm a self-taught player and manage pretty well, but I have not had swing command or confidence in years. I score the same as 20 years ago so I know I'm a wiser player now, but I play safe and frustrated. I miss going after it and flushing it. I thought Malaska was the answer and chased inside out, dropping hands, bow the left wrist. Nonsense. Stay grounded, maintain the inside, pull the handle into the swing and square the face with the forearms. Through impact, maintain the inside, rotate forearms keeping the face parallel to the path by breaking down the left wrist. Wow!! All the lag I want...throttle up with the legs and pressure into the ball. Damn...well done.

I just want to say that I changed my setup because of you, and it was/is wonderful. Specifically, I concentrated on making my left (lead) arm an extension of the club shaft. Previously, I had the hands more in the middle, and I found it difficult to get/feel really square at setup. I hit the ball worryingly straight today. 😂 And with pretty good authority. Not every time of course. But I got to that point that we all want to get to, which is that there will be some misses, and there's no getting around that. But they're not soul-destroyers by any means. I think I have a bit more leg flex at setup than you'd like, but one of my mistakes is not getting the legs active enough, so there's that. Just a bit more flex than I saw you put that client into seems to encourage more energy. Carry on, please.

Never seen anything like this. And I am talking about your whole website... Intelligence spicing up the facts makes for tasty (not testy...) science. Best on the web. BTW, your strong grip leads to a cupped wrist which, in the opinion of more than a few, is a to be avoided - there even seems to be an actual trend (since DJ and now John Rahm) towards wrist hinge. Thanks for clearing everything up.

Got it Stuart. With that pad of the left hand on the grip. That club shoots up real vertical with a hinge so easily. And if I pull out in transition towards the ball… I can now feel like I can almost get the clubface at the same angle I had at address. By pushing down on the handle with the left pad. The club always feels up and out for the whole swing. Never handle raising

I've just been trying this grip in my simulator. It's hugely different from my normal grip, which is relatively weak, but with a lot of wrist bow. I hit a high draw with very low spin which is pretty effective. This grip forces a completely different swing with the hands low and inside and the clubface swinging out to the ball. I get a lower ball flight generally, but still very low spinning. I don't have access to attack angle, but I suspect mine is very low, possibly even positive. Anyway, I hit some monster 7 irons, one of them out to 187 yards. My normal is maybe low 160s. That one spun at under 3000 rpm and landed too flat to be useful but I've got a lot more to try with this grip. Very interesting!

I watched all of your grip videos and was hoping you could clarify if my assumptions are correct. Is it correct you tend to promote a strong left hand grip with the right hand grip being the one to vary to manage the face? Or do you also believe the left hand grip needs to be adjusted between neutral to strong based on shot results? I will say that your approach to the left grip with the last 3 fingers looser and left arm pushing down definitely helps to create a natural hinge in the backswing. I have struggled a lot with that in the past.
@GoodGolfCoaching
@GoodGolfCoaching Жыл бұрын
The left hand pad is the only part of the hand I am truly fussed or focussed on TheBukman, without that pad on the butt of the club it’s tough to get the handle pressure increasing through strike. The right hand is placed to offset the left hand to a degree, again, in the fingers of the right hand too.

Question. I have arthritis and unrepairable torn tendon in my lead left thumb. It is great to know I should not place my lead left thumb on top and down the grip because any pressure from my trail right hand on top of the left thumb is very painful. Can I grip the handle in your strong grip as you demonstrated and place my lead left thumb more under the grip to avoid pressure from my trail right hand?

I watched many of your videos and learned a lot and maybe this question has already been answered, then I am sorry. But I would like to hear your ideas / opinions on the pros and cons and/or the effects of the size of the grip itself because I never really understood what it means to have the correct grip size. For example Bryson and Peter Finch use oversized grips on all their clubs despite not having the largest hands of all times and I am wondering what people could benefit from "too large" grips and what people would actually harmed by that.
@GoodGolfCoaching
@GoodGolfCoaching 10 ай бұрын
I believe the grip size should be reflective of the glove/hand size. If you’re trying to overcome a movement by altering a grip size I think you’re barking up the wrong tree in my honest opinion. Many have subscribed to thicker and thinner than prescribed by glove hand size, each to their own but I wouldn’t recommend. Hope that helps Thomas 😊
@thomasgolft
@thomasgolft 10 ай бұрын
Thank you, this is the first time I hear there is a correlation between glove size and grip size, maybe because I am playing without glove most of the time because the grip always feels too big with the glove on. Will look into that further. @@GoodGolfCoaching

This is a must watch. Just looked again. One question, I experimented with allowing the left hand thumb to slide downand to the side and no pressure. it appeared to allow me to drop the club head easier at the top of the backswing, the pressure on that thumb appears to have a big impact on the outcome. Any views?
@GoodGolfCoaching
@GoodGolfCoaching Жыл бұрын
Hi Martin - I’m not quite sure where exactly you are referencing the thumb. If you mean the thumb is exactly down the side of the grip, I wouldn’t advise. If you mean a longer left thumb this can aid in creating more leverage between arms and club on the way up and and mainly down to the ball. HTH

Only now am I beginning to realize the impact of the grip on everything else, what are your thoughts on where the sole if the club should be at address and how grip effects it. Hi Stewart, I have a question about this. I'm a big guy, 6'3 with large hands so i'm using jumbo grips. When I follow the guidance in your video I can see almost 4 knuckles, but when I apply pressure to the pad, the club pitches up vertically in a straight line. Is that what we are looking for or have I exaggerated it too far?
@GoodGolfCoaching

It’s the kink in the left wrist and pressure of the pad I am interested in and not the knuckles my friend. Get those two right and then watch my “Power at Impact” video and then move through the broom series you’ll see the link up. Hope that helps. Best wishes Stu

It is not even demonstrantet to be at the pads of the fingers but actually bellow the pinky PAD and bellow the forfinger PAD, is that how you want it? Just trying to be completly clear😅
