Great demonstration, thanks! However in real life pricing will have much complex granularity. It will be not only by month but also by product and customer etc.. In that case it doesn't make sense to use calendar table. Instead you will need to think about separate pricing table connected to all mentioned dimensions.

Thanks for this video, can you make more complicated one? instead of increasing all items with same rate how do you do it with different rate with different items?

Hi, I see that you have used M language to create the accumulator column, is there another way to create the accumulation column by using set of clicks in power query instead of m language as I don’t know M language

thanks for the clear explained video, I agree with davitmovsesyan for the more complex granularity where can we find a video on that particular problem?

Wouldn’t it much easier to add “ MMM-YY” column to Calendar table and link it with Price Increase table? I wouldn’t be adding anything that is not date related to the Calendar table , plus you would not need all the extra transformations to plug accumulated increase column to Calendar table .

I find it hard to follow the accumulation function 😢. List.Accumulate is so hard to understand to me

Am unable to concatenate the list and table, can anyone help me out? = Table.FromColumns(Table.ToColumns(Renamed Columns1) & {Custom1}, Table.ColumnNames(Renamed Columns1)& (List) )

This works for one item, but we can have price increases on several items. Would you add additional accumulation columns? Or is there another way you would handle this?

I would then create a product year month dim table..thatll make this ridiculously easy

@@GoodlyChandeep you mean a slowly changing dimension, right? That would be interesting to see. I usually find diifcult to create the Surrogate Keys on the Fact Table via Power Query without losing much performance.

How would you model if you had the accumulator table as separated table instead with the dates where the increase happened?!
