About Rhett's sewing misadventure, to answer Link's question "why," puncture wounds are notorious for not bleeding and that's why they are so dangerous and liable to get infected. Like stepping on a nail. If a wound bleeds, the blood sort of rinses the wound out, but puncture wounds often don't bleed much. The needle is so small it doesn't make a large swath of tissue damage. I live in a normally lush area in Virginia, but we occasionally have droughts. One time during a drought several years ago, a guy in a car driving in front of us (me, my mom, and my brother) tossed his cigarette butt out of his window and into tall, dry bush by houses on the side of the road. The grass caught fire. We immediately found a place to park nearby and helped neighbors who also saw the event put out the fire. It was totally nuts. Seriously, if you smoke, please do not toss your cigarette butts out of the window. If we hadn't stopped and no one saw it, those people could have died or just lost everything. Smoking does nit just affect smokers. It can harm others too.

I smoke and I do not throw my cigs on the ground anywhere. It's disrespectful. If there is no where to dispose of them properly then I just keep them on me. Yes it's gross and smells terrible to do this. But that's my problem. And I smell anyway.
