No no. People know what cricket is or have heard of it at least. I am still not really sure what a wicket is though. I'll have to look that up. Oh, except, I know what a wicket is in reference to croquet because we do play that (just looked it up). By the way, the word marmite looks and sounds so much like marmot, that I always think of that. The first person I ever sent email to (in 1995) was an Australian who told me about vegemite.

Yeah, we have custard. It's very thick to the point of stiffness, like peanut butter before you mix in the oil (natural or organic peanut butters have the oil separated and sitting on the top of the peanut butter in the jar, waiting to be mixed back together). A lot of times it's lemon flavored, don't know why, but it usually is when i see it. You can spread it on a pancake and put a second pancake on top of that, forming a sweet patty that you eat with a fork with no need for syrup or other sweeteners. I've also seen, but not eaten, frozen custard. I guess it's supposed to be like ice cream.
@rexana
@rexana 9 жыл бұрын
Tanning Lizard That's... weird. Although tbh I don't think anywhere else does custard as we know it. In French custard is called "creme anglaise", literally "English cream" so it seems like it's definitely mainly an English thing xD Hot apple pie and custard... you can't beat it.

***** hi you're really rude. Guess what? I know they are available to buy on line. I don't own a credit card or any thing like that to buy them and my parents think it's be a waste of money to buy food rom over seas just to try it. Guess what else? I'm years ahead of the grade in school I should be in. I was in the gifted and talented program in my old school. That a program for those of us who are smart enough to do our schooling and have time to miss two classes worth of time during the school day and not have our studies and grades fall. I'm quite intelligent and quite smart I already know what I want to do with my life. I'm going to be a chef. Not only did I skip grades by learning past the material? I made my self learn past the material so I could remove my presence from people who treated me badly like you. I am astonished by your poor manners sir. I have more class and intelligence than you I'm afriad if that's how you feel humans should be treated because YOU don't know the whole story? I'm sorry for you, that's just sad. I was brought up very well thank you and the fact that I'm american has nothing to do with that. I'd rather be dumb and kind to people. Than some one who "thinks" they're "smart" when in reality they're rude and bitter. But guess what. I AM smart and I AM kind because I don't like making people feel bad. Because you do not know what people have going on in their lives at the time. You have no right to even TRY and make people feel inferior to you. What. So. Ever. No one can me me feel inferior with out my consent. And in case you don't know? Elinor Roosevelt said that. I hope you have a nice day. I hope you have a nice life. I hope you learn to teach people kindly instead of how you just treated me. And I hope you pass that kindness on the the next generation of humans and there for they to the next. Thank you and good day.

They do more flavors over here in the UK as well as the basic Jammie dodger's,such as chocolate or banana and toffee. We also have a lot of other strange but wonderful biscuits as well. Hopefully you'll get chance to try them some time! Also, you're right about people making you feel inferior! Only happens if you let it. Well done for putting that idiot in his place, to assume you're stupid because of where you're from or because of your upbringing is so disrespectful! Also spot on, I'd rather be dumb but kind than smart and cruel.

I actually hate London due to how populated it is. I don't live far from London, but my city is rather small compared to the bloody swarm of angry businessmen or tourists ready to drag me into the depths of their realm. I hardly ever manage to make it back home alive. I'm just not at all used to the sheer density of it all

If you really want to understand the UK and it's people, DO NOT go to London. It is barely representative of the Uk. Do a tour of some more northern cities, especially Manchester, York, Edinburgh. The Yorkshire countryside and the Lake District are absolutely stunning and worth visiting, there's a reason Yorkshire is called gods county. There are so many places in the Uk worth visiting, and London is just an expensive tourist trap like any international city. People may be grumpy in London, but venture out of the big smoke and there are some of the friendliest people in the world I believe.

If you're not British, you can use it to sound cool because whenever someone says something British, it sounds cool, but in the UK, we don't say it very often. But yes, it is a British saying (as far as I'm aware) and it just means to do things. For example, "bish bash bosh, now it's finished". If you want to sound British, though, you need to use our awe-ful (that means good) insults like "twat" and "wanker". I have a Swedish friend who I have taught to use British slang and now he is the envy of his friends. And then you have to pronounce things like a Brit would like water being pronounced "wor-ter" and not "wod-r" like an American would and spelling "aluminium" correctly and so on. Thank you for reading How to be British 101. Remember to like and subscribe.

Spain is specially underrated since French and Italian food is much more famous but Spain has such a huge variaty of delicoius local dishes and amazing organic products. And also extremely cheap, unlike France. If you wanna eat great, in quantity and cheap, come to Spain, specially the North (basque country, Leon, Asturias, Galicia) and Andalucia.

Do Brits have any deep-fried food like Americans do?
@devoyinator
@devoyinator 10 жыл бұрын
The Scottish deep fry things a lot, and as in almost every country there's fried chicken and the like. Talking about chicken, you need to try Nando's chicken. Best thing ever, although it's technically South African it has become biiig over here.

Kaamil Naicker It's Portuguese/Mozambique cuisine, but it's not Portuguese. It was opened in South Africa and is based in South Africa.

The food is "bland" in other countries like England is because the US puts a shit tonne of sugar in everything

+Scrublord. It's not the sugar that makes it less bland. It's all the chemicals, preservatives, artificial flavours. They pack so many chemicals in their food that it may taste nicer but it's seriously bad for you. That's why a lot of their stuff is actually banned from coming into the UK.

JohnIsAngryAgain Every tourist destination in Britain is multicultural by default. Edinburgh has tourists 365 days a year just like London and you don't hear us pissing and moaning that we aren't Scottish enough anymore - and we'll piss and moan about almost everything. Just because you see non British people in a place like London doesn't make it any less British. Just because you see people who do not share your ghost white pallor and penchant for burberry doesn't make them any less British than you no matter what your backwards UKIP voting brain tells you.

"It's got to be London" - this is the very attitude that gets people from the UK writing nasty comments...... London already swallows the vast majority of public spending on infrastructure / is the centre of the civil service and political power / massive subsidising of the arts etc. People outside London / home counties get fed up watching it prosper at the expense of almost every other region of the UK. These guys are typical "Little Englanders" ........ and that's why there's so many "anti" comments made on the first part and I guess this vid too?? Imagine if you will, say, that the USA had ONE huge MEGA town such as New York or LA on steroids - where political power / government / media and business is centralised and everywhere else was left as a back water like Detroit - a shadow of its former self... how would you feel if everyone constantly banged on about "you must visit LA... it's amazing"

On the subject of strangers talking to you in the UK, I'm a spaniard who recently moved to south east England (Hampshire) and everyone here is absolutely lovely (sometimes to a fault). People just seem to greet everyone with "Y'Orright?" and then you can easily go down a circle of "Yeah m'orright, y'orright?" to have someone else come in the room "Hey, y'orright?" Don't know if it's a local thing, but most brits around me are constantly terribly aware of whether I'm alright or not.
