it’s my absolute goal in life to become as profound and accurate in my vocal performance as the individuals in the ensembles whitacre works with. what an absolute honor to be able to work with such talent.

If you listen closely the 5th and 4th measure from the end has a little reflection of “The Seal Lullaby” and “October or (Alleluia)” well done whitacre once again.

Song brings back so much nostalgia. One of my favorite choir pieces and children’s book!

My high school chorale just performed this at our state choir festival along with some other pieces. Our director is friends with the person who puts all the scores in and she said that we were the only school on the state with a perfect score. Hell yeah. This song still gives me chills

This is sublime. I've often thought Eric Whitacre could do something special with the odd piano accompaniment in his works and this just shimmers.

I love that he's doing different things now. I had the honor of having lunch with him about a month ago and he told me just that, that his music always seems to be a reflection of him. So that makes sense that it would change over time as we all grow through our lives.

Cedric Lewis, me too! One of his best pieces ever... And that's saying something because all of his music is outstanding. Just a delight to listen to, to perform and to conduct. Sumptuous even!

Yet another wonderful piece by Eric Whitacre, of a text unforgettable to parents. children, and parents who used to be children. I first found the soprano part quite challenging, but then read the composer note and realized that it is for soloist-quality sopranos, since his ex-wife first sang it in its solo version.

My favorite from Whitacre : the poem was given life greenly toned by the piano. a beautiful duet for the choir and keyboard accomplishment, my favorite part though them “Bully Basses”. never will you waist class time on his music, there’s always something to immediately enjoy!

i love this a little more simple harmonies, less "Whitacre-y" chords, but still very Whitacre in its own sense i don't think something as grand and intricate as his other works would have invoked such a nostalgic, familiar feeling as this lullaby a grand, eleven note cluster chord doesn't necessarily bring back childhood memories of going to sleep :) i love this piece, though!
@nathanberridge73216 жыл бұрын
Far more reminiscent of Seal Lullaby and Glow. Clusters and crunches but sweet ones like the tinkle of windchimes, not harsh dissonance for effect like in Sleep or Water Night. Good work by Whitacre - syrupy sweet as a lullaby should be.

I listened to this while on the way to work this morning. However, I believe it was a solo. I can not recall her name but her voice was mellifluous. Well done in all ways. Good book, good arrangement, Good Night Moon. 🌙

2 years ago my choir director decided to do this piece. The thing was that we were in middle school. I was only in 6th grade, but we actually did pretty well. Granted we didn't sound as good as this but for a medium-sized middle school choir with 6-8th graders, we weren't that bad.
