Trucks!?! No way! A few projects ago, I'd commented that Alex had built every other part of a skateboard and (jokingly) that he should build a forge to cast his own trucks next. He responded that it was coming up and I assumed he was also joking. I can't wait! I appreciate how humble you are while blowing us away with your ingenuity and networking skills.

Solution for your humidity problem. Modify a food dehydrator to make a drying area to pull the humidity out of the air, this hack is used a lot for Filipe t spools and since you print things you’ll get more bang for your buck. I live in Maryland where it’s near 90% humid all the time and the food dehydrator helps prints and should help with your urethane too.

Can you do a video on making crystal clear wheels in different colours?
@GoodRoads2 жыл бұрын
Clear wheels would need a specific urethane formula. A lot of urethanes that have the durometers we're looking for have a natural amber tint to them so something crystal clear would be sort of a specialty product. I'm hoping to do a whole series testing out different formulae that are available, I've got to build some testing rigs first though.

I know this video is a bit over a year ago and you may have already fixed the issue. But, I have a dehumidifier in my garage to keep the humidity levels down. I generally sit around 30-33% humidity at all times for 3d filament purposes and parts that easily rust. Hopefully, this helps if you still have this problem, if not, maybe it will help someone.

I was thinking of using old melted down plastic bags for wheels.?? Whatcha think also I only have an fdm printer
@GoodRoads3 жыл бұрын
I don't know if you've seen the youtube channel Precious Plastic (I think they actually go by One Army now) but I love everything they're doing in the small scale plastic recycling space. I think recycled plastic wheels would be a really neat experiment, I think they would roll, but I don't actually expect that they would be all that good. Plastic bags are HDPE which has a low co-efficient of friction, so they'd probably slide like crazy, but they also probably wouldn't grip at all. Would definitely be a fun thing to play around on! I certainly need to see if I can make this mold geometry work on an FDM printer, they're so much more common. If you give it a shot go with the smallest possible layer height you can manage, it'll make a huge difference in accuracy and post-processing

Hahaha thank you for the spanish lesson! The wheels should be (and they do feel like) around 90a. I don't have an actual durometer so I can't test it, but that's what this formula is spec'd at and as long as I got a good cure that should be the hardness.

I've been watching for sometime and we have close tastes in skate equipment and noodling with set ups. I have to tell you you are gonna freak out for joy when you discover and try surf skating . For you I would recommend a waterborne front and back kit because you have lots of trucks and decks already. But surfskating is so look flowy and low impact its turns flat ground into a bowl or a wave you never have to kick push .I'm telling ya man just knowing you as little as I do from this channel I know like me your gonna get on one and know other style trucks will do anymore . Its like opening a new dimension in board sports. Just saying.

The polyurathane is very hydroscopic and will absorb the moisture from the air. There is a nitrogen spray to help eliminate any moist air trapped inside the container to prolong the storage life. Well done for showing the release fail, shit happens. Just make sure it's used in a well ventilated place, it's toxic.
