A good crisis can go a long way to strengthen European unity. Like with Ukr/Rus or increasingly the US. It's normal that these kind of political changes are made by necessity, by major crisis. It's always been like that - there has to be a catalyst for change to happen. I welcome the US under Trump because it'll be what tips us over the edge and forces us to evolve. Make or break.

The EU's core weakness lies in its fragmentation. For it's a patchwork of competing interests without a single leader to embody its people’s will. In contrast, the U.S., with its unified leadership and institutional support, projects strength and coherence. This leadership vacuum leaves the EU struggling for global respect and leverage against centralized powers like the U.S. and Russia.

The EU's core weakness lies in its absurdist policies and anti-economical politics. Not to mention its constant attacks on its memberstates' democracies in the form of direct intervention in their elections.

I mean yeah but... If you look at Europe before the wall fell (pre 1989, UdSSR and all that) we came a long way. Esp eastern Europe should be VERY grateful for the EU. Who knows what's possible in another 20y, 30y...? If we play well, A LOT.

Its very telling how weak Europe is if they need to team up with each other. These are nations that brought the world into the modern age. They invaded and conquered the world and made a trail of blood and tears all over the place. Now look at them. Weak and in decline. I'm not saying they should return to the mindset of the past or that it was good. But they have fallen so hard in terms of power. Where once one European state could control much of the world at its whims, they now have to go cap in hand together to do anything and they are still struggling.

EU cannot even protect the red sea from houthis, relying largely on the American navy. Europe is reliant on the suez canal and it's up to the USA to protect it, even though it's half a globe away. Also, USA subsidies many European defence budget, letting those countries invest those funds back into economic development instead on thier military. Also, Europe is reliant on the lucrative American markets to sell their expensive goods. Brussels had a fit when America intiated their own subsidies while ignoring chinas for years or their own subsidized economy.

Starting more wa. around the world including attacking historical allies... Tr. Just announced 4 including the old sweet middle east. Congrats

The majority of the EU has no genuine interest in the US isreali colonial genocide pet project. At the end of the day the US and isreali agression only bring them more refugees and instability, Its not even really in american interest to help Israel, just the massive political corruption caused by isreal has made the US almost a slave to them. Since every politician with power is bought by thier lobby. And Europe only complies becouse they are effectively US sattelite states since ww2. Aswell as the german guilt fetish. Ofcourse they will do as little as possible against the houthis. The EU is under no threat of militairy invasion of anyone other then the usa istelf, At this moment, Europe is subsidising the us, By buying US weapons to send to Ukraine. Keeping its bloated arms industry afloat, without the US having to start another war itself. Europe is hardly reliant on American markets. more on the US empire for cheap recources, that empire was established by European countries to begin with.

I remember so many incredibly innovative European companies that fell into the hands of American Multinationals, not last, Deep Mind which literally jump-started the new age of AI or BioNTech that got only about 20% of profits by the selling of mRNA vaccines. Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of brains that move to the zero-welfare wild-frontier country to earn bigger salaries at the expense of the general American population. Also my deep sadness for the UK film industry that did all the work while American corporations got all the profits for 70 years straight now

@Axel-vq3mv
@Axel-vq3mv 4 сағат бұрын
i think the thesis is that europe as a collective is becoming economically uncompetetive. spending on your healthcare isnt a good thing. its a problem that needs people paying into it which is generated from economic growth. now if you have an american perspective you idolize universal healthcare but that is mainly bc americans healthcare system is an incredible outlier when it comes to greed and exploitation. however the healthcare system of the US isnt a drain on the resources of the government. i think basically europe has to find ways to be competetive economically otherwise it will be vulnerable politically. the alliance between europe and the states is a great thing but it only works when both are equal partners
@Hackedideal

It sure has, but it's not like it has been a charity from the US. It was absolutely necessary to block the expansion of Russian led communism further into Western Europe. Also, the agreements that ended the Second World War largely made Germany completely toothless, so they couldn't try to dominate Europe once again.

US is asking Europe to go on go on colonial campaigns abroad… just saying it’s a very lopsided alliance where US is expected to cross an ocean to defend Allies unwilling to defend themselves. US isn’t even asking for Europe reciprocate and develop capabilities to cross an ocean. Just meet the basic spending obligations that are in and of themselves possibly inadequate to actually defend themselves with.

The EU should not just break up with the USA economically and diplomaticly but create a separate mutual defence agreement outside of NATO with Canada, Panama, and Mexico to deter Trump from invading. If he does invade any of those places then the EU needs to treat that like Hitlers invasion of Poland and declare war on the USA. The USA stopped fascist imperialism in Europe and now it is their turn to stop fascist imperialism here.
