I have a 26 volume set of the world book of knowledge from 1915 on mint condition. I paid $5 for the set. These books were sent to families in rural areas by by mail every month. They teach children every thing from milking cows to making butter, to sewing, etc. my kids loved reading them.

So neat So many beautiful , wonderful values of America way back when....... everything was taught to us from milking farm animals ..to table manners ........ Missing alot of those values today ..sadly ....my good friend I was astonished she doesn't even know basic table manners ....does not know how to cut up tiny bits of meat ..then lat knife on plate but by but ....I grew up in a larger ..cultured city from the town I live in now ..😮‍💨

We have a fireplace in our kitchen. We since learned it was outside on a patio and at some time it was enclosed and added to the kitchen. I did not like the brick at all. I wanted to enclose the brick w/wood panels & molding, and to dress it up I got corbels & 2 antique plinth blocks. One day on Marketplace I found a top of a antique pump organ. It flashed in my mind it would make a beautiful top to my fireplace. Like you said, Lesa, if you see a pc of furniture, find a way to rethink it & repurpose it. My project turned out absolutely stunning & amazing. I have a one of a kind fireplace and now I can't cook, I just have to sit around and look at my gorgeous fireplace all day long! The showcase of my whole kitchen, in fact my whole house!

I started thrifting about a year ago and I love it. Can't tell you how many things I've gotten that I love. I've gotten so much Christmas greenery, plates to give to friends that don't have any, a bunch of candlesticks that I've grouped on the mantle, baskets and well, I could go on and on. Don't forget little neighborhood thrift stores. I found designer coats, wow. It's addicting.

I lean toward transitional or transitional styles. Eclectic curated / collected decor styles. I've recently gotten interested in an updated cape cod cottage style . But for Christmas I love the French county , old world masters ornate styles. Gilded or marble look cherub pots, urns, velvet, satin, brocade, organza ribbons, brass, stone , cement and marble items and carved candle sticks . Toille and chinoisere styles to give the decor an old world rennasance feel. Perhaps some victorian thrown in with crystals candles and mirrors for reflection, Dried hydrangeas , magnolia , gilded leaves and scented candles , potpourri with al the pine, orange, and pecan pie smells of Christmas dinner. really enjoyed this video. Right up my Christ birthday celebration style.

You have great ideas. I love the metal deer. Last year I found a grapevine deer wreath( I have a deer theme) that I found at Goodwill. It’s amazing! I also have that exact wreath holder. I use it to display my custom wreaths. I’m loving that vintage sketch of children skating too!

Any reed basket can be washed in the sink with warm, soapy water, then rinsed and left to dry.

In Dallas texas we only have a couple little goodwills. They are terrible. Suburbia have a couple Salvation Army. Very few thrift stores here. Goodwill collects our donations and take them to towns hours away. It’s a shame

Hi I live in Scotland UK, and the little brass pot you paid $2 for I have the exact same one right here on my desk, I don't know where you came from as you just popped up on KZbin. And my pot was given to me as a gift from my sister about 25 years ago and she found it at a second-hand (thrift store) shop with a plant in it, lol I have just mesg her to tell her, now the question did your pot go to USA all the way from UK or did my pot come all the way USA to the UK lol xoxoxox

I''m slowly but surely replacing made in China with vintage items. I've pretty much done that with any of my dishes/china. You really have to hunt for a good bargain at Goodwill these days; some of their pricing is laughable, especially on Dollar Tree items, or Hobby Lobby items that you could buy brand new at a much lower price. We have a lot of estate sales locally, and that's where I find the best bargains. Where did you get your small flocked trees?
