Goodyear Airship Hangar Tour - Wingfoot Lake

The inside of the Goodyear hangars aren't currently open to the public. Thanks to a friend who works at the facility I was able to get a tour for my family and I decided to record a bit about it for posterity and sharing. By 2023, Goodyear has plans to open a small museum inside their Ohio hangar to share their history.

As someone who has seen the blimps since I was a young child up close for air tours at Lost Nation Airport in Willoughby, OH, I am very pumped about this video. I seem to remember hearing that Goodyear was going to get access to part of the old Air Dock at Akron Fulton Airport to store the new blimps. Do you know if there's any validity to this info?

The Akron Airdock is currently being used by a company called LTA Research (I think that's their name). They have their own blimp operation or at least they are starting developing a blimp. As far as I know no part is available to the public. I do know someone there that I should reach out to and see what is available. Since they are doing research even a casual tour might be off limits.

PS: I drove for CBS about 1975-1976. (2 quarters of Stadium Loop and 1 quarter of East Main. My brother also drove 2 years after me - and one as a supervisor - and, a good friend of mine ('Bev') drove 2 years about 1975 to 1977-ish and was also a supervisor her last year, or so...) After KSU, I actually worked for the Canton, Ohio RTA from 1976 to 1981 as a driver; supervisor; dispatcher; and finally, Transportation Planner... Mike Manos
