No. It isn't going to be totally gone. Google Chrome will use flash if HTML5 isn't available. Basically, Google Chrome will only be using HTML5 if the website supports it.

Thank god. Twitch uses flash, and whenever I watch a twitch stream, my macbook pro's fans start making more noise than video editing, gaming, (Yes I game on my mac) or anything else. It also drains my mac's battery like crazy! I normally get a full day when watching youtube, but only an hour when watching twitch! Hopefully twitch will now stop living in the past and give us a better experience.

I had big problems with HTML5 player in KZbin (buffering issues) until like a couple of months ago...good thing now it finally seems to buffer normally like when It used to be in Flash. (And yes I've been using Flash Player-enabling extensions for years after HTML5 was released due to these issues).

So interesting thing about HTML5 and Flash, my KZbin videos load at like 360p even if I have 1080p selected for the first 5 or 10 seconds (it seems to randomly select one of those). Even though the slider clearly says 1080p it REFUSES to load the video at that bitrate until the 5 or 10 second mark, and while trying to find a fix for this someone said to use the HTML5 player for KZbin instead of the Flash player. I *am* using the HTML5 player and it doesn't fix this issue, but the few people on the thread were saying that switching from Flash to HTML5 fixed this bug. I guess the only reasonable explanation is that switching from Flash to HTML5 wasn't the real cause of the 5 or 10 second lower bitrate, but more like a secondary effect. The issue doesn't seem to be all that common as I haven't found very many threads on the issue, and the ones I do just say to switch from Flash to HTML.

ZakTheGamer Yeah, but in my case it isn't. My internet is at least 80Mbps, I can download a file from almost any server at 10 megabytes per second, so if there's a bottleneck it's on Google's end. It's just like when you try to play a KZbin video at certain times of the day, in my area it's 6pm to 8pm, that's when everyone is utilizing KZbin and there's a bottleneck. I've said it before, I would gladly pay for KZbin Red *if* they included a sort of deluxe pass where you jump to the front of the line for bandwidth to ensure you can play video files at max resolution.

They might be preserving Flash for now but in a few years if a site only runs Flash, it's just not gonna work. If Flash games can't be re-written in HTML5 they'll just fade into the past. And most people who made the many flash games out there probably couldn't be bothered to rewrite the games anyway.

***** Firefox is consistently losing market share, not because it's bad, but mostly because longtime FF users on Windows XP are upgrading to Windows 7 or 10, and they aren't reinstalling Firefox. I personally use FF and Edge, but a lot of people don't, and in the future, even less people will use it, which is unfortunate. It' a fine browser from a solid company.

Microsoft Edge is already using html5 as the default and uses less power on portable devices like 2 in 1 pc's. Consumers like myself have started to use Edge on portable pc's because of this reason. Google is aware of this and is putting things in place to keep consumers on Chrome.

I think the Spotify Web Player uses Flash, hopefully Spotify will change it over to HTML5 at some point, but then again, the Web Player isn't as pleasant an experience as the Spotify Desktop client is. I understand that Google Chrome has its own built in Flash plugin, I suspect now there may come a time when they're remove it completely.

When I use HTML5 on my new laptop KZbin works fine with 720p60 and most times with 1080p60, but with flash 720p is laggy. However, when I use HTML5 on my old computer, I need to watch videos in 480p, but with flash, it can handle 720p and sometimes 1080p. HTML5 is for new tech, Flash is for old things.

This is way too invasive for a piece of software. It's supposed to do what I'm telling it to do, not the other way around. Unfortunately, Firefox is the same: it won't, for example, let you go to a site that has a certificate signed by an unknown CA (no, there is no way to go around this that I know of). I wish browsers had a “not a complete moron mode” that would not force the user to do things the way the browser devs think they should.

They'll still allow Flash to run for websites that don't have an HTML5 option for right now. But in a few years I would guarantee that Flash will be completely unsupported. But by that time, with Chrome getting the ball rolling to phase out Flash, most major websites like Crunchyroll should be updated anyways.

chrome is super slow, especially scrolling! It used to be super smooth on my gaming pc, now it's laggy just like my old computer in 2006! that's on my gaming pc! everything else works super smooth on my computer so it's definitely chrome performance bugs, now there's pages unresponsive, happened on my old computer and never happened on my gaming computer until I noticed those performance bugs towards the beginning of the summer
