They got A in ~2 minutes because they just solved A small, which is just sim it. A large requires the 2 binary searches, which is why no one good solved A super fast.

I mastered programming within hours. I wrote my OWN versions of the two most popular programs in the world. The first is Hello World. While rudimentary, and lacking in threading capabilities, it boasts an extremely user-friendly and intuitive interface. I wrote it in c++ using gcc compiler, Asus monitor, and human fingers. The second is Good Bye world. While it may not be as widely known as Hello World, it still offers the EXACT same amount of utility that the hello world program offers. I wrote this in Java using some coffee grounds I found at the bottom of my Starbucks cup. I compiled it myself with a straw. I too am thinking of expanding on my Hello World program and turning it into a multi-greeting, synchronized planetary operating system based off the not widely known Iinux kernel (which I also made by hand using binary found in the background of the Matrix (the first), specifically minutes 22 thru 34 as a base.) I've yet to compile my binary into assembly, and then compile the assembly into c++ so that I can finally recompile into an exe, but when I do... I'll be rich! I'm going to name the OS Look Out World, or LOW for short. So look out world, there will be a new LOW coming from me soon!!

Is Benq someone notorious in this community for being good, or is performance kind of based on who gets "lucky" and gets the problem fast so the top placements change a lot and have many new names each time?

He is notorious for being good. In well written contests that aren't a bangerfest (tons of super easy problems and the whole thing is just a typeracer game pretty much), there is very little variance in who is the top competitors. For instance, Gennady aka 'tourist' has won GCJ for like the past 7 years in a row or something crazy

To be a competitive programmer, knowing c++ is a necessity? Or I can proceed with python?
@איתיאוטולנגי

Danger Man as a beginner you can use python. But if you’re planning to be good at it you have to switch to c++
@Hillstylelife
@Hillstylelife 4 жыл бұрын
C++ is what the majority of the top comp. programmers use, but it's not a necessity. Use whatever you're the most comfortable with, as that will make you faster. Python is also a good language because it's not as wordy as Java & the like, but can be slow (& make sure to submit using the PyPy compiler).

Hey William, I'm sorry if this is rude or offensive, but didn't you overcomplicate your first answer? I'm just a guy of your age who you've kinda inspired to work a little harder, so apologies if I'm being rude... I think a simple while loop with an if else inside it would have been enough for the first answer.
