The choice of aluminum over stainless steel could also be related to cooling. Aluminum has four times the thermal conductivity of stainless steel, so it'll keep that Tensor G2 much cooler.

I worked in a factory/fixer for returns only a few years ago...many were foldable considering the sales numbers it was high number. I also thought that people who could afford them are probably people who got them through work or more money than sense so don't treat them properly, they honestly came back bent in half and wanted money for that....hmmm. If you treat them ok, they were probably always fine (like 4 years use). People are already looking for the next thing and don't take care though. That's just my POV .

@@Natsukashii1111 If i remember correctly the first Galaxy Fold did not survive and it was breaking after 2-3 days after release. Still,you can't blame Samsung since it was their first foldable phone. Nothing comes out perfect from day one but in Google's case they had the opportunity to learn from other manufacturers yet they still failed to make it a bit more durable.

The fact that that phone cost $1800 and literally folded and died in one wrong move like what if you just weren’t looking and folded the wrong way. Like apples most expensive iPhone isn’t even $1800 like the most expensive iPhone, currently is $1600 and that’s for a 1TB model 14 ProMax. But most people don't even need 1TB of storage, like me for example my 14 ProMax is a 256 GB and it only cost $1200 and it's working completely fine and not broken or scratched or cracked or messed up in anyway. I’m pretty sure the materials, design, software, and hardware in iPhones are way better quality than that $1800 now broken Pixel. 😂🤦

So based on my comment from your durability test video, it looks like when you did the burn test, the flame was right over the part of the screen where the copper heat pipe was underneath. The heat from the flame transferred onto the heat pipe where it directly transferred onto the tensor chip leading to the phone feeling the abrupt change in temeprature and turning off immediately.

The flame test is useless in terms of durability evaluation, anyway. It's just done for entertainment purposes. Older display tech had more potential failures that the flame could *sometimes* reveal, but for modern devices it's basically just an entertaining thing to do.

They don’t use solid blocks of aluminum, they use metal molding where the mold will have a shape similar to the finished frame that does need machining to clean up and finish the parts. It would be far too expensive and time consuming to start from a solid billet of metal, they want to machine for the shortest amount of time as possible.

@@katid571 I've had the fold 1 and 2, and a flip 2 and a RAZR 2022. I don't even abuse my phones or use them much and the outside screen started flickering on 2 of them and the other ones had pixels go out at the folding location. Maybe it's my luck and received faulty units. It's just Krazy buying a phone with the price of a used car just for the high failure probability. They gave me a fold 3 as an exchange after I had to return both folds 2;and flip 2 so hopefully better luck 🤞

I owned Fold 2, 3, and current using Fold 4. I pre-ordered for Fold 2 and traded in when a newer one was released. I used all these as daily driver but never had a problem other than screen protector starting to come off at the hinge.

lithium battery tends to catch fire if punctured where the volatile chemicals kept separate inside the housing comes into contact with each other, causing catastrophic combustion! the battery itself is soft material and you can bend it with causing explosion.
