Thanks Alex. I got to know this course thanks to your recommendation in another video. It seems to be a well-structured course and doesn't require any specific IT or math background knowledge. One thing I would recommend is that you can actually audit the course, do the ungraded quizzes, then pay to complete the graded assignments. You can do this to study for as long as you want and pay very little as well. I personally prefer to go through and digest every small details so completing this course in 6 months seems like a good option for me. Trying to complete it quickly can be counter productive.

@@mr.frenchii8973 Hi. I'm sorry I didn't get notification for your comment. When you go to a course, click the Enroll for free button. It will ask you if you want a 7-day trial but look at the bottom of that window instead and you'll find the option to "Audit the course." It's really small but it should be there. Remember you can only audit a course and not the entire program. For example, in the Google DA certificate, if you enroll for the certificate, you won't find the audit option. You need to go to the specific course, for example "Foundations: Data, data, everywhere", then enroll into that course to have the audit option available.

To enrollees & potential enrollees: I stress having a sense of healthy urgency to complete this program. It is not a course, per say. Courses are individual modules adding up to a full specialization, program, or professional certificate; it is a number of courses rolled into a program where one should pace themselves to actually LEARN the materials & not speed rush through it just to obtain a certificate. However, you can still review the materials after you've finished if you rushed through it. I don't recommend this method because most ppl don't typically commit themselves 2 do that. And don't cheat. You only short or limit yourself if you don't properly leverage the program's skills & training the right way. Employers are generally not hiring based on your tech/hard skills alone (or at all) which can be more or less OTJ training anyway. They are hiring more so based off of your soft skills. Faking it until you're making it usually don't always apply. So build on your business acumen or portfolio after SUCCESSFULLY completing the program & let the program work FOR you not against you. DON'T DEFEAT THE PURPOSE❕ ACHIEVE THE PURPOSE‼ #GoogleDataAnalytics #DataAnalytics

I suggest the same for you. Good luck!
@suprcompsci3 жыл бұрын
@@matthewmcneil216 hey Matthew. I think issue with MIS is that it’s become so common. The degree is really general in terms of Business IT but you never really specialize in anything. I think Business Analytics might be a better choice. I like my degree but I would’ve chosen to specialize in something. Jack of all trades, master of none Also Portfolio, Portfolio, Portfolio. No matter your major, take screenshots or save everything you to show the work you can do. Too often people can put down the skills they have but can’t prove it. A portfolio, even an academic one, would show that you are familiar with certain tools. Employers care more about tools than methodology. Methodology is also important but tools come first. Best of luck to you. I hope the job market is better. Also look into going organizations. Networking will land you job faster than others.
@matthewmcneil2163 жыл бұрын
@@suprcompsci I saw somewhere that mis has become the basic business management degree of the 21st century but also are a master in mis is the combination of the mba and the Ms in computer science so idk what to beleive. I do know based on job applications very few jobs put mis in degree requirements. most people want computer science or "equivalent" which means engineering or math. and for business roles they just want finance economics or accounting degrees not mis.

I totally agree with Szilvia! It's slow, repetitive, cheesy, and, as you said, geared to absolute beginners. Seems like a spreadsheet basics course would be a prerequisite. The instructions to use Quiklabs are too confusing and I absolutely hate the constant push to go chat in the forum. I'm there to learn not to hang out at the virtual water cooler. There are nuggets to learn for sure but it's surrounded by a lot of filler.

My 2 cents on R vs. Python: R beats Python by a long stretch in statistics (hypothesis testing, bootstrapping, Monte Carlo simulations...). Why? The extensive libraries make it much easier to apply statistics. Everything else, Python rules.
