The basic approach is load Landsat or any other satellite data (Surface reflectance data). If there is any scale factor, adjust that and then apply the formula. As I tested, image collection can not be clipped. If you want a time series SAVI raster, stack all the layers and then clip that to export.

You have to create a study area boundary file. Either you can create using the digitization tool available on the left side or can add using the assest tab. The other videos in this list may help.
