Exposing devices in Home Assistant and seeing the devices in Google Home works great with Nabu Casa! Can control them and add them to a room. But Google Assistant keeps saying the devices still need to be set up in the assistant app. So no voice control via Google Assistant, works with voice in Home Assistant though.

I wonder if there are limitations to the send text command because when I try to put the text command "play sex and the City on Netflix," it doesn't work. Same thing when I try the text command "turn off ambient EQ." A command like turn on the light worked but I don't need Google to control my devices cuz that's what my home assistant is for. I want Google to do what Google does using an automatic command from home Assistant That way I don't have to use my voice. Anyone have any insight?

I've got the same problem. I can reach everything, see the login-screen etc. But after 5s "your test ... account will be linked" i get the same error: could not reach... a trouble-shooting-video would be great ^^

Every time I try, it just tells me "Something went wrong, try again later". Actions on Google Support is not very helpful unortunately, so my integration project is on hold for now :(.

Now eventing works. After that I created a new project for reading out the nest devices. If you have them I suggest to create the api in another cloud project and not in the same project of the assisten @

Love the specifics of how you do these videos...asking prematurely as I haven't attempted this yet, but maybe I'm not the only one with this question: Can you simply set up a media "helper" group that you want the messages sent to for say when the window is opened rather than adding each media player separately? Just curious but again, thanks for the granularity of the videos...helps so much!!!

I'm glad you liked the video, and great question! I setup a media group helper and I am able to control some things to devices in the group. I can for example call the Google Assistant SDK: Send text command service to have google commands run on multiple devices. I cannot however, get the send notification service to work or send a lovelace dashboard to the group.

@@BeardedTechGuy Got it! I finally figured out how to use an Ikea 5 button remote to send a "Please come downstairs" voice message through 3 Nest Hubs and 1 Echo Show so wherever my son is upstairs, he'll hear it. That's what I took from the video, so again, thanks so much!

I don't have a ring doorbell so I can't try this out but seems like you'll need to run the Ring-MQTT add-on and then from that you should be able to use home assistant cast to display a dashboard that has the camera feed displayed when the doorbell is rung. Here's a forum thread talking about it a bit community.home-assistant.io/t/live-view-of-ring-doorbell-camera/428933 Again not sure if this will actually work but that's what I was able to find and I hope it helps get you in the right direction!

Great video and easy to follow along and set up. Thanks so much for doing this. One quick question if you have minute, I want to run a automation where I turn off the tv for the night and then my google speaker starts playing relaxing sounds for a set amount of time, say 2 hours. I can get all of it to work except the speaker never stops playing no matter what amount of time I entered be it 2 hours or 2 minutes. Do you know if a times command like this command is possible?

Glad you found the video helpful! The easiest way would be to make your own "relaxing sounds" music file that is the correct length you want and upload it to YT Music and call it for your automations. That might now fit your use case though / could be annoying. I had another idea of creating a virtual switch in HA that could trigger a Google Home Routine that then triggers the relaxing sounds with a timer but I can't figure out how to get a virtual device to be usable as a trigger in Google Home (the virtual devices show in GH but cant be used for triggers with everything I've tried). If there is a way to use a virtual device as a GH trigger that would probably be the easiest way to accomplish what you want.

I don't know about home assistant, but in the Google home app, I created a "try your own" automation and wrote "play ocean sounds for 8 hours". I created a separate action to start at 10 PM. It's been working fine for me for 3 years now. Hope this helps.

Would love an update to this video. It's looking like HA has updated and simply flipping on the Google Assistant switch, like at 2:12, doesn't seem to be an option anymore. Looks like they're trying to push everyone to the cloud garbage...makes no sense...we run this so we can keep stuff local. Do you know of a workaround? Their documentation for an alternative process is pretty rough...

The toggle shown at 2:12 in the video is for setting up with Nabu Casa Cloud. If you want to avoid the subscription you'll have to do a different way. I shown one of doing it starting at 5:54 in this video

Hello. My home firewall is closed to traffic from out of country. I only allow trusted services through the firewall. If I configure it as you mentioned in the second part of your video on Google Actions, do you know which domains or IPs I need to allow on my firewall device? Or which ports? So that Google can access my Home Assistant server?

The commands you would send through home assistant would be the same exact commands you would speak directly to Google home to accomplish your tasks.

Hmmm that's an odd one, do you get the same error if you purposely type in the wrong username / password you'd normally use to login to home assistant with?

I had the same problem, and it seemed to be caused by Cloudflare, which was set to block every connection that's coming from outside of a whitelisted region. If anyone else has the same problem I'd recommend checking the security settings for: your firewall, "dns firewall" (Cloudflare), and your reverse proxy.

Using the 2nd method I'd like to use my duckdns url.. Should I append the 8123? I'm confused and I can't make it work.

Yes, you need to have :8123 after your URL. This is actually required in a few spots. You can find the 3 spots its needed at these timestamps: 7:55 8:59

I can't create a project in the Action Console. The page keeps jumping back. The failed attempts can be seen in the google home console. There you can import them. However, it seems that you can only create Matter projects there. For other projects, you'll be redirected to Actioon's Console, where you won't be able to see the projects. I hope someone finds a solution, or another way to integrate the Google Assistant.

Not to my knowledge, the issue is that Google doesn't support the two-way conversation like that to be able to support it. I know that HA has definitely been coming out with some voice control stuff of their own, so I bet once that gets more polished you'll be able to do something like that through their solution

If you are using Cloudflare, disable "Bot Fight Mode" and it will fix it
